Maybe you don’t know who you’d teach. That’s ok.
Maybe you don’t know if you want to teach.
That’s ok.
Maybe you just want to do yoga, deepen your practice.
That’s ok.
Maybe all you want is more time with Jesus.
That’s ok.

The truth is, it’s not about the reasons to you tell yourself you shouldn’t.
It’s not about the reasons that make sense.
It’s not about any of that.

So what is it about?

It’s about allowing yourself to hear that little whisper. The gentle nudge. The one that says. You. Yes you. Step out and do this thing.

There are a million reasons for both sides of your pro con list. But there is one that trumps them all. And that’s when you know you’ve heard God’s call.

Take some time. Listen.

And when your heart starts to race, and your palms get a little sweaty, and your mind spins just a little with possibility..:that’s when you reach out.

Can’t wait for that moment when you tune in and then reach out. For when you accept God’s invitation to join in this thing called Holy Yoga and join us for In Person Instructor training.

Wondering what open the front side of the body means? We’ll focus on muscle groups like the quads and hip flexors to create space on the lower body. Release those muscles that get tight from all the sitting. As for the upper body. It’s a focus on release of the shoulders and chest. The muscle groups that round forward all day and droop when we feel defeated. And we’ll open the heart space. I think this might be the biggest challenge. Because it’s not just muscle pliability (or strength, but that’s a discussion for another day) to do this. We need strength and pliability of the heart. To be open to love and to feel trust of ourselves, others and Jesus. To allow ourselves to feel (both good and bad things),to let our truest self shine through. The is that sometimes only the Lord gets to see on a regular basis.

It’s a faith journey. It’s a wisdom journey. It’s a physical journey. It’s a strength journey. It’s a mobility journey. It’s a journey worth taking. It’s a journey that, crazy as it feels to say, eventually, we’ll be able to say that we’re glad the Lord sent us on.

We peruse social media. We see the big glory pose. We try it. Sometimes it surprises us and works well. Sometimes…it really doesn’t.

The catch is…do we stick with it. Do we keep trying? Do the work to strengthen the body? Open the right spaces? Create the stability? Or do we surrender?

It’s like life. We can see where we want to be. But sometimes we just can’t quite figure out how to get there. The answer…is in doing the work on the in between. It’s the place where we do the work face the hard.

So, Lord help us. Let’s do the work. Let’s face the hard.

One of the ways we’ll do that as we travel through the rest of the year is to build towards this peak pose. Because, full truth, I w never truly gotten it. A million second that the camera grasped before falling over is about as good as it’s gotten. So let’s focus together. For longer this time. For until it happens not just some predetermined amount of time before moving on.

Lots of opening the front body and strengthening the back body coming your way. Plenty of captures of the falls and stumbles and struggles. Feel free to join in on the challenge. And share your journey too. And your goal doesn’t have to be the big pose. Maybe it’s somewhere along the way. Maybe it’s that you tried something new. Maybe it’s that you faced the hard.

When we gaze forward, we see it. What we wish and hope and plan for the future to be. We paint beautiful pictures in our minds of what will be, what is to come. Our accomplishments. Successes.

But. We overlook a part that is very very important. The journey to get there. Because, turns out, nothing happens overnight. Or in a straight line. Or without steps backwards and off to the side. Without pauses. Even full stops at times. We overlook that part.

That part that requires work. Sweat. Tears. Blood. Stubbornness. Grit. Faith. Hope. Belief. We overlook it.

That part that isn’t pretty. Or logical. We overlook it.

And then. When that part happens, we let it take over. It beats us. Sometimes in a battle, sometimes, if we let it, in the war.

Because that part. It’s hard. And we don’t like it. It’s heavy. And we don’t like it.

But the truth is…that part. It’s worth it. It matters m. It builds and shapes us. It strengthens and molds us. It creates a version of us that is ready for the part we saw. The part we dreamed of.

So go ahead and embrace this time of hard. Smile as you face the challenge. And remind it…

The devil doesn’t get to win. Not today. Not any day. Jesus has you by the hand. God is on your side. The Holy Spirit lifts you high.

And with that team…it’s only a matter of time before you come through this mess we call the middle.

I was talking to a friend the other day. About struggles that she’s facing. And how we get very caught up on who we used to be what we used to be able to do. And then we focus so hard on the new. The beautiful new and next version. But the truth is, currently, life is in between the two. In the messy. In the broken. The mixed up and confused. I was referencing kintsugi art as we spoke. How the broken thing is made beautiful when it’s put back together. And this realization hit. The part where the art is made, where they take the broken thing and piece it back together. We don’t talk about that part. We glorify the beautiful before. We idolize the beautiful after. But we ignore the part in the middle. Where it was hard and sad. Where work took place. Where the puzzle is rebuilt and the art forged together.

I e also struggled to find what I wanted to say. I’ve been very quiet lately. Because I’s rather speak to you from the heart. Than simply force a post together.

I think maybe this middle place is where the focus will be this year. Im not sure what it will look like yet, but there’s something here. Something beautiful. Something worthwhile. So I think… I think we’ll just slowly but surely explore this concept together.

I’ve been debating. I want to talk about thanksgiving, blessings, gratefulness. To acknowledge the reason and meaning behind Thanksgiving. It’s a holiday that gets lost. Between turkey, naps, football…and the holiday that comes next, we forget about it. About why we celebrate it. About what it represents.
But at the same time, somehow, that all feels routine. Like something you could speak to on auto pilot, or hop on a soapbox over. And I don’t want to do that. It’s also… well what ‘everybody’ does. And I want to bring something fresh.
So what does that mean? To be completely honest, I still don’t know.
But I do know my new puppy is insanely cute. And that I’m incredibly grateful for and blessed by the joy and love she brings to my world.
So for today…we’ll touch base. And you can enjoy a little of the cuteness. And maybe the perfect something for thanksgiving will present. Or maybe it will come for a better set up next year and we’ll just take this year a step at a time. God knows, I’ll let Him lead.
Thanks for being there friends. Thank you for letting e stumble through this season of change and struggle and upheaval. Thank you for being here. I look forward to what’s next…whatever that conversation may be.

I swear. I promise. Trust me. These are the types of phrases we use when we want to make sure the person we are speaking to really listened. That they pay attention. That they get that we mean what we are about to say. Like, really mean it. You know who else promises, swears and requests trust? God. For He too wants us to really pay attention a little extra sometimes. He too really wants us to know that He really means it.

Bow: lie on the belly. Reach back for the ankles. Flex the feet. Press the ankle into the hand for more lift. Relax the glutes (note, mine are over engaged in these photos. You can tell because my knees are wide not in line with my hips)
