Harm reduction saves lives and builds trust. 🦋

Promise Resource Network’s Harm Reduction program offers free, peer‑led support, safer‑use supplies, Naloxone, testing strips, and honest conversations with people who have lived experience. For many in our community, this program fills critical gaps when other services feel unavailable, unsafe, or overwhelming. There are no requirements, no pressure, and no judgment, just safety, dignity, and connection.

When you support PRN, your donation helps ensure these life‑saving supplies and peer support remain available to our community when they are needed most.

Every number you see represents someone who walked through our doors looking for connection, safety, and support during a hard moment.

Our Hub is a peer‑run space where people can show up without appointments, referrals, or judgment and find community, groups, resources, and one‑to‑one support grounded in lived experience. When traditional systems feel overwhelming or unavailable, Promise Resource Network offers another way forward.

We rely on support to help keep this space open and accessible. Donate today to sustain free, peer‑led programs that meet people where they are and walk alongside them through crisis and recovery.

Last week, Promise Resource Network was proud to be represented at the 2026 Bridges to Empowerment SMART Recovery USA Conference in Orlando. Our founder and CEO, Cherene Caraco, delivered a keynote on radical leadership and what it truly takes to build peer‑led, recovery‑centered programs inside systems that weren’t designed to change. Her message challenged the status quo and centered lived experience, values, and humanity as drivers of real transformation.

We were also excited to see our team members, Ashley Stephens and Elliott Brooks, lead a breakout session sharing how PRN integrates SMART Recovery across peer‑run community spaces, including Recovery Cafés and other low‑barrier supports. Together, they highlighted the power of peer support, choice, and connection in creating welcoming environments where recovery can grow.

We're grateful for the opportunity to share PRN’s work, learn alongside peers from across the country, and contribute to conversations shaping the future of recovery!

Our Recovery Court Team offers voluntary peer support for people navigating court involvement or preparing to return to the Mecklenburg County community. Rooted in shared lived experience, our team understands the challenges of court involvement and walks alongside people with respect, compassion, and real understanding. We support individuals as they prepare for hearings, plan for reentry, rebuild their lives, and connect to housing, employment, and community supports. At the heart of this work is dignity, personal choice, accountability without judgment, and the belief that everyone deserves the chance to heal and reimagine their future.

Last month, Promise Resource Network opened the doors to The Retreat @ the Cabin, our new peer‑run respite in Cabarrus County. Today, we’re excited to share a tour of the space along with an interview with our founder and CEO, Cherene Caraco, who speaks about the heart and story behind it.

The Retreat at the Cabin is a peaceful, voluntary place for adults to stay during times of emotional distress or crisis at no cost. It offers a supportive alternative to emergency departments or hospital stays, with no locks, no shared rooms, and no pressure. Guests are supported by peers with lived experience and can spend their time in whatever way feels most helpful, whether that’s resting, creating art, cooking, walking outdoors, or talking things through.

We’re grateful to see this vision come to life and honored to share more about it with the community in Cabarrus County!
