On Tuesday, we shared a simple tip for improving squat depth by using a box (or chair, or whatever you have handy) to help train that solid 90-degree squat position.

Today, we want to highlight a useful modification that can make barbell squats more comfortable for people with limited shoulder mobility.

A simple towel setup on the bar can work as a great makeshift alternative to a safety squat bar. By looping towels over the bar and holding onto them instead of the bar itself, it reduces strain on the shoulders while still allowing you to perform barbell back squats safely and effectively.

For anyone who can’t quite get their shoulders into the traditional bar position—or experiences pain while trying—this can be a great option.

Melissa gave it a try and had a much better experience, allowing her to squat comfortably and enjoy barbell back squats again. Sometimes small adjustments make all the difference. 💪
