Soaking up everyday with my own sweet baby instead of posting much content here BUT still here to offer overnight support!

One (of the many) important lessons I've learned so far through my motherhood journey is this:
it's OK to need and ask for support. We are not meant to do this alone.

I know I've been MIA these last few months as we've been preparing for the arrival of our own baby. I just wanted to share this awesome experience we had with recently. She came to our home (at the last minute, in the pouring rain) to do this amazing 3D ultrasound with us. So ready for her to come back again so we can get another look at this sweet baby!

How soon can you start doing tummy time with your newborn?

As soon as you get home from the hospital!

When I arrive for an overnight shift, I check in with the parents and they fill me in on anything I missed since our last visit.

I will be there to assist with baby’s last feed. I’ll burp, change diaper, swaddle and soothe baby to sleep so you can get ready for bed.

After everyone is settled for the night, I’ll take care of a few household tasks. This typically looks like

- washing bottles/ pump parts

-running/emptying the dishwasher

-sanitizing baby items

-Washing, folding and putting away laundry

I will be there throughout the night to care for baby & assist with feeds depending upon the needs of your family.  

Have a restful sleep knowing your baby is well taken care of throughout the night!

Flat spots can be a normal and go away but there are a few things you can do to prevent them from progressing

-Lots of tummy time while baby is awake

-If baby immediately turns to their favored side when placed on their backs, you can gently turn their head to face the opposite direction. Place something stimulating on one side to encourage them to look in that direction

-Baby wearing allows baby to hold their head up, look around and avoids putting pressure on one side

Breastfeeding is an entirely new experience for mom & baby. It's important to make sure mom feels supported. Sometimes something as simple as being there to talk is helpful. Ask what she needs and how you can help.

Installing a car seat for the very first time is intimidating. Struggling to buckle your tiny baby for the first time can be stressful too.

Did you know there are professionals trained to educate you on the proper installation and proper use of the car seat. If you unsure whether your car seat installed correctly or how to strap baby in, ask me how to find a
CPST local to you!

Tips for freezing milk

-Use a haakaa to start building a small freezer stash

-Invest in good quality breastmilk storage bags to avoid leaks & waste

-Freeze small amounts at a time (2-3 oz)

-Freeze bags flat to save room

-Label each bag with date, time & amount. Also add any additional info- if milk is dairy free, if baby is sick etc.
