Neck work is a huge part of my practice and is greatly needed in todays society. Check out these pictures of techniques I use to help open up the back of the neck and relieve tension. This work is great for everyone… especially those who suffer from tension headaches, office workers, and jobs with a lot of overhead manual labor.

In this video I am using a couple of techniques to open up the side, this technique is great for parents with small children who hold them on one side for long periods of time. It is also great for those who sit behind a computer or drive a lot and typically lean to one side. I also use these techniques a lot to help treat the root cause of shoulder and neck pain. when we lean to one side our muscles become short on that side and our upper body and neck have to compensate to maintain a straight and level appearance.

In my practice I utilize multiple techniques to address muscle and fascial restrictions. Notice how the first photo shows the arms cannot achieve a fully flexed position and the last photo shows the arms in a fully flexed position, this is the result of concentrated work on the pectoralis minor and major muscles. Restrictions here reduce ones ability to achieve a good overhead position with out compensations elsewhere in our body! This work is great for everyone who struggles with mid back pain, shoulder pain and rounded shoulders!
