Severe lymphedema can cause weeping skin (lymphorrhea), where fluid leaks out and damages the skin surface, making it feel like a burn. For home care, the goal is balanced moisture—not soaking wet and not dried out. Clean gently with lukewarm water, pat dry, apply a thin barrier cream (such as zinc oxide), and cover with a non-stick absorbent dressing. Leaving the skin wet causes breakdown, while over-drying causes burning, tightness, and cracking.

To reduce tightness and swelling, controlling fluid pressure is essential. Elevation above heart level, gentle manual lymphatic drainage, and compression (only when the skin is protected and able to tolerate it) help move fluid out and reduce weeping. Hydrating the surrounding skin daily with a fragrance-free emollient also prevents further inflammation and skin injury.

Inflammation in lymphedema is not caused by diet alone. Avoiding salt helps, but infection prevention, proper compression, skin protection, adequate protein intake, and rest are critical. If the skin becomes red, hot, foul-smelling, or more painful—or if swelling continues to worsen—medical or lymphedema-specialist care is needed, as ongoing weeping cannot always be managed with home care alone.

I’m officially entering a new chapter of practice, and my heart is so full. 🥹

For years, I’ve seen the gaps in lymphatic care, the endless waiting lists, the rushed appointments, and the feeling of being unheard. I decided it was time to build the solution.

Starting March 1st, I am opening a clinic in Charlotte, NC, focused exclusively on Lymphedema, Lipedema, and complex lymphatic care. 🏥💜 This isn’t just a new office; it’s a new era of healing. We are moving to a hybrid model, combining this beautiful new clinical space with the home-based services you already love.

At the new clinic, things will be different:

Unrushed, personalized care because your journey deserves time.

Deep education so you leave feeling empowered, not overwhelmed.

Compassionate guidance from a therapist who truly listens to your story.

I wanted to create a sanctuary where you never feel like just another number. I am so looking forward to welcoming you into this space! 🥂

Grand Opening: March 1st

Location: Charlotte, NC

We are officially leveling up, and I cannot wait to welcome you all inside. I’m popping the champagne as we speak (literally)🥂🍾

🩺 Lipedema: Seeing Beneath the Surface with Ultrasound

Lipedema is a medical condition that can cause painful fat, swelling, heaviness, and easy bruising, yet many patients are told for years that it’s simply weight-related.

Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive tool that allows us to look beneath the skin and better understand soft tissue patterns that may be consistent with lipedema.
It can support clinical evaluation, enhance patient education, and help guide individualized care.

Ultrasound is not a stand-alone diagnostic test and does not replace a comprehensive medical evaluation. It is used as an adjunct tool, alongside history, physical examination, and clinical judgment.

We believe patients deserve to be heard, validated, and informed — especially with conditions that are often misunderstood.

📌 Ultrasound imaging is provided for educational and clinical support purposes and requires a patient acknowledgment/waiver.

Women with lipoedema in the Northern Territory are struggling to access the care they need, forcing some to relocate for specialist treatment. The condition, often misunderstood, requires better medical support in regional Australia.

It really helps to write the date you get your compression on the tag with a fabric pen.
(Bigger ,clearer, in your preferred format)
Refresh the writing with fresh ink as needed before it disappears since it is washed a lot.

It helps us to remember how old our compression is , to remind us to replace it often.
Before our limb swells into the size of the stretched older compression.Or new compression will feel too tight, or need to be resized.
