Do you have a space that is all yours to escape & unwind? Surrounding a little corner of your world with items that ignite all your senses will do that for you. What do you have that smells really good? A candle maybe? Some mints for taste to leave by a small side table? Your favorite soft blanket in a cozy recliner? You get the idea. I have my plants close by, soft light & a waterfall I listen to & watch to ease my world. I would love to hear about your space! Do you have a pic to share with us? Enjoy creating if you don’t already!

When we speak of listening with compassion, we usually think of listening to someone else. But we must also listen to the wounded child inside of us. Sometimes the wounded child in us needs all our attention. That little child might emerge from the depths of your consciousness and ask for your attention. If you are mindful, you will hear his or her voice calling for help. At that moment, instead of paying attention to whatever is in front of you, go back and tenderly embrace the wounded child. You can talk directly to the child with the language of love, saying, “In the past, I left you alone. I went away from you. Now, I am very sorry. I am going to embrace you.” You can say, “Darling, I am here for you. I will take good care of you. I know that you suffer so much. I have been so busy. I have neglected you, and now I have learned a way to come back to you.” If necessary, you have to cry together with that child. Whenever you need to, you can sit and breathe with the child. “Breathing in, I go back to my wounded child; breathing out, I take good care of my wounded child.”
- Thich Nhat Hanh, in “Reconciliation: Healing the Inner Child”.

It’s okay to hurt. to struggle. to feel.

In fact, it is better to feel than check out.

When we disconnect from what our body is feeling, we also disconnect from what our body is communicating that it needs, in order to heal more completely. Growth occurs as we explore at a comfortable pace, in a process that is unique to each of us; with a goal of becoming a fully-present participant in the everyday, simple pleasures, as well as safely embracing and processing the pain that is now woven into our story.

This might look like TTT (Trauma Touch Therapy™) or coaching through the trauma. Sessions are best performed clothed, in a chair or on the massage table, if preferred. You do not need to share anything you do not feel comfortable sharing. Everything is client-led. My role is a compassionate guide, alongside you, as we work through past trauma and the ways it might be affecting you today.

Psychotherapy with a licensed therapist is strongly encouraged, prior to and/or during our TTT/Coaching sessions. Trauma Recovery Coaching is different from psychotherapy, in that coaching is working with your current starting point as an acceptable neutral ground and is more action-based from that point onward. A Recovery Coach enables the person receiving treatment to take control of their life and take action to steer it toward their goals.
