🎉 Celebrating Two Wonderful Years at The Village on Morehead 🎉

Members and staff recently came together to celebrate the two-year anniversary of The Village on Morehead, marking a milestone filled with gratitude, friendship and community spirit. The celebration included a toast shared by all, honoring the beauty, happiness and meaningful connections that have grown here over the past two years.

Our Executive Director, Stacy Gatto, shared a heartfelt poem she wrote for the occasion, capturing the spirit of the community and the joy of the relationships formed among members and team members alike. Several residents also offered touching toasts, reflecting on their experiences and the friendships they’ve built since calling The Village on Morehead home.

✨ Aging Boldly at The Village on Morehead ✨

The Village on Morehead recently hosted a special Aging Boldly event featuring guest speaker Dawn Liles, with the conversation moderated by Kerry Barr O’Connor, Director of Business Development.

The engaging discussion explored what it means to embrace life fully at every stage. Members and guests shared stories from their own life journeys, bringing wisdom, laughter and inspiration to the afternoon.

Kerry Barr O’Connor has joined The Village on Morehead as Director of Business Development.

O’Connor brings more than 30 years of nonprofit leadership experience, including two decades in Charlotte as a C-suite executive. She most recently served as Executive Director of Dress for Success Charlotte for 18 years, later transitioning into the roles of Chief Advancement Officer and Capital Campaign Counsel.

During her tenure, O’Connor successfully re-opened Dress for Success Charlotte in 2005 after it closed due to lack of funding and led a transformative capital campaign that relocated the organization into a 5,040-square-foot, fully accessible career center.

Under her leadership, the organization expanded from a volunteer-led model to a team of eight full-time professionals, grew referral partners from three to more than 60 across 14 counties, and built sustainable funding reserves. She also spearheaded innovative marketing and fundraising campaigns, achieving more than 2 million impressions and exceeding fundraising goals by 297% in one year.

In 2015, O’Connor hosted the Dress for Success Worldwide Conference in Charlotte, welcoming affiliates from 20 countries and spotlighting the city on a global stage.

Her honors include NAWBO Nonprofit Leader of the Year, Charlotte Business Journal Woman of Achievement, Charlotte Ledger “40 Over 40,” and multiple national recognitions from Dress for Success Worldwide.

A former newscaster and AmeriCorps VISTA participant, O’Connor remains active in civic and volunteer leadership throughout the community.
