Courtland is an amazing teammate and is part of the Children’s Hospital Inpatient Pediatric Specialists (CHIPS) team at Atrium Health Levine Children's Jeff Gordon Children’s Center. With nearly a decade of nursing experience, she brings a deep commitment to compassionate, family-centered pediatric care.
As a registered nurse since 2014, Courtland began her clinical career in adult neuroscience before discovering her passion for pediatric care. Since 2016, she has worked exclusively with pediatric patients, gaining extensive experience caring for children and supporting families during some of their most vulnerable moments.
“I’m drawn to caring for people in their most vulnerable moments and turning empathy into meaningful action,” Courtland said. “In pediatrics, that means seeing children as whole humans, not just small patients, and supporting their families alongside them.”
Courtland’s clinical philosophy centers on advocacy, trust and presence. She believes the way patients and families are cared for during difficult moments can shape their future experiences with health care, and she is passionate about creating environments of safety, reassurance and respect. Working with children, she says, also means helping ease fear and offering stability during overwhelming situations.
In her new role with CHIPS, Courtland looks forward to continuing to care for hospitalized children while practicing with an expanded scope. She is especially eager to build strong, trusting relationships with patients and families, collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teammates and further develop her clinical skills.
“This role allows me to continue doing meaningful work while growing as a clinician,” she said. “I’m excited to work alongside a new team and collaborate to provide the best possible care for every child.”
Courtland is grateful for the opportunity to care for children and families during critical moments—and hopes to bring comfort, confidence and even a smile to each patient she serves.
