TCM is a service where a Care Manager can help an individual meet their health goals by coordinating medical, social and behavioral health services and by assisting in finding and accessing resources like transportation, healthy food and safe housing.

A Care Manager is a specially trained health care worker who works with the client and all health care providers, including doctors, to make sure clients get the right care when and where they need it. The Care Manager knows what resources are available in the community and will work with local providers.

The Care Manager can:
• Ensure clients have access to the physical health, pharmacy, behavioral health, and social resources you need to live their best life
• Help arrange appointments and transportation to and from the doctor
• Support clients in reaching their goals to better manage their ongoing health conditions
• Answer questions about what their medicines do and how to take them
• Follow up with client’s doctors or specialists about their care
• Connect clients to helpful resources in your community
• Help clients continue to receive the care they need if you switch health plans or doctors

Our Sr. VP of Operations, Helen Austin, recently shared a powerful reminder about the true impact of peer support 💙

"We intentionally sought to integrate Peer Support Specialists into our teams because we believe recovery is most powerful when it is shared. Peer support is not just a service model to us — it is a philosophy rooted in hope, lived experience, and authentic connection.

We value the dual benefit of employing individuals with lived experience: it creates meaningful career pathways for people in recovery while simultaneously strengthening outcomes for the individuals we serve. Peers bring credibility and relatability that cannot be taught. They connect with individuals not from a place of theory, but from a place of “I’ve been there.” That shared understanding builds trust, reduces stigma, and opens doors that might otherwise remain closed.

We appreciate how Peer Support Specialists are uniquely positioned to be both empathetic and empowering. They model resilience, demonstrate that change is possible, and help others envision a fuller, self-directed life. Their presence reinforces that recovery is real, sustainable, and attainable — because they are living proof of it."

Today is Random Acts of Kindness day:

💙 Random Acts of Kindness Day
We often hear stories about random acts of kindness that saved someone’s life or was a piviotal moment that changed the trajectory of their lives.
A stranger who checked in.
A moment of being seen.
A small act that came at exactly the right time.
At SPARC Services and Programs, we know that for individuals and families navigating mental health challenges, those moments matter. Kindness can interrupt isolation, restore hope, and remind someone they are not alone.
We also know that engaging in acts of kindness can in turn reduce stress, increase happy hormones and spread more kindness.
Today is a reminder that even the smallest, most unexpected act of kindness can have a profound impact sometimes more than we will ever know.

🎨❤️ Arkansas FCT Team Building Fun! ❤️🎨

Our Arkansas FCT team recently spent time strengthening connections in the most creative way! Team members partnered up and drew portraits of one another, and those masterpieces will soon be framed and proudly displayed in our new office. 🖼️✨

But the creativity didn’t stop there! Everyone also made encouraging Valentines for each other—sharing words of affirmation, appreciation, and positivity that reflect the supportive culture of our team. 💌

It was a meaningful reminder that the strength of our work starts with the strength of our relationships. We’re proud of a team that builds each other up while building stronger families every day! 💙

FCTR Case Highlight 🌟

On Halloween, we completed the join-up meeting with our very first FCTR referral — a teenage boy referred through DJJ. Both he and his brother were involved with DJJ and reported using THC, ni****ne vapes, and alcohol. The client also had pending charges, including DUI and assault, and at the time, neither young man planned to stop using substances.

Our Practitioner remained committed to working with the entire family, including engaging their father upon his return from jail. Through consistent support, relationship-building, and dedication to the treatment model, we’re proud to share that all of the client’s drug screens in January were negative for substances.

Both brothers are now actively participating in scheduled treatment sessions — individually and as a family — without cancellations. This progress is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when families are met with compassion, and evidence-based care. 💙

📢 Children of Addiction Awareness Week | February 8–14 📢
This week, SPARC joins communities across the country in recognizing Children of Addiction Awareness Week, a time to raise awareness about the millions of children impacted by parental substance use and to highlight the importance of early, family-centered support.

Children growing up in families affected by addiction often experience significant stress, trauma, and instability. Without support, these experiences can continue the cycle of addiction across generations.

At SPARC, we address this need through Family Centered Treatment-Recovery (FCT-R), an innovative practice and systems-of-care model that weaves together the evidence-based Family Centered Treatment model and best practices in substance use treatment. FCT-R goes beyond treating substance misuse alone by addressing the family systems and trauma histories that contribute to and maintain the cycle of addiction.

By strengthening families, building protective factors for children, and promoting long-term recovery, FCT-R helps create safer, more stable environments where children can heal and thrive.
