Our staff recently had the opportunity to attend the Third Annual Atrium Health Social Work Symposium, joining social workers and behavioral health professionals from across the region for a day of learning, connection, and inspiration.

Events like this highlight the incredible impact social workers make every day in supporting individuals, families, and communities. Our team enjoyed engaging with colleagues, learning about new practices in the field, and bringing back ideas that will continue to strengthen the services we provide.

We’re proud to invest in professional growth and grateful for opportunities like this that celebrate the important work of social workers. 💙

Recently, as we’ve been working to re-establish and strengthen our team culture, the McDowell and Rutherford FCT teams recognized that serving our community means more than responding to referrals—it means showing up in other ways too.

So we’ve launched a new monthly Community Give Back initiative! Each month, a team member chooses a way we can give back locally.

Today kicked off our very first event: trash pick-up at a local park. 🌳♻️

Caring for families and communities goes beyond the services we provide—it’s also about helping create spaces where our neighbors can live, play, and thrive. We’re excited to keep this tradition going and continue finding new ways to support the communities we serve. 💙

Investing in staff training is one of the ways SPARC strengthens the support we provide to the individuals and communities we serve.
This week Clinical Director, Caylee Gilham, had the opportunity to facilitate training with our Peer Support teams on WRAP : A Peer Support Approach to Wellness. She focused on person-centered and trauma-informed ways to support our client's recovery through a Wellness Recovery Action Plan.
Peer Support is powerful because it centers lived experience, connection, and HOPE.

Burke FCT made "words of hope and affirmation" cards and attached them to roses. We split up in groups and walked downtown Morganton to hand out flowers to hopefully brighten someone's day and remind them they matter!

Arkansas FCT Teams 3, 4, and 5 recently participated in the FCT Day of Giving, spreading kindness and positivity throughout their communities. The teams worked together to print affirmations and words of encouragement, attaching them to colorful rubber ducks and flowers.
After assembling the ducks and roses, team members visited parking lots, local businesses, and community areas to hand them out and brighten people’s day. Their goal was simple: to spread cheer, kindness, and encouragement to others.
This project was a meaningful way for the teams to give back and remind others that even small gestures can make a big difference. đź’›
