Our Wine Dinner, A Taste of the Amazon, was an evening of exploration, elegance, and extraordinary flavors. The journey began with a mini corn arepa amuse-bouche paired with Segura Viudas Cava Brut, followed by the vibrant leche de tigre with Columna Rias Baixas Albariño. Venezuelan quinoa salad found its perfect companion in Château Minuty Rosé, and a mini hallaca was elevated by Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir.

The main course—rich Asado Negro with cassava—was paired with Bodegas LAN Rioja, and dessert, a refreshing green papaya creation, glimmered alongside Michele Chiarlo Moscato d’Asti Nivole.

A heartfelt thank you to Kevin Tabor and Hayden Gurley for sharing your wine expertise and guiding us through these thoughtful pairings. To Chef Maribel Mendoza, your creativity and passion brought the Amazon to life on every plate. And to Kris Hilton, Michelle Doggett, and Brayden Conley—your warmth and attention to detail created a welcoming, unforgettable atmosphere.

Most importantly, thank you to our members💚—because the true magic of evenings like this isn’t just in the food or wine, but in the company we keep.

This Veterans Day, we pause to honor the men and women who have selflessly served our country and to celebrate the incredible work of Queen City Honor Flight. This amazing organization ensures that veterans from Charlotte and beyond have the chance to visit the memorials built in their honor. As part of the national Honor Flight Network, they offer “One Last Mission” to WWII, Korea, and Vietnam veterans, giving them a meaningful opportunity to reflect, connect, and feel the gratitude of a nation.

Each trip is filled with meaningful moments, bringing veterans together to honor their service, sacrifices, and the bonds forged through their shared experiences. Our very own Michelle Doggett recently had the privilege of volunteering on a flight, helping ensure that each veteran felt celebrated, supported, and deeply appreciated. This weekend, we had the honor of celebrating a truly remarkable milestone — Cypress member Ms. Moss’s 105th birthday.

Her celebration was every bit as graceful and full of life as she is, complete with a 1929 vintage Cadillac, a lively conga line, and a dazzling ice sculpture centerpiece. Surrounded by friends, laughter, and music, Ms. Moss shined with the same joyful spirit that has carried her through more than a century of memories — a spirit she credits to her passion for ballroom dancing.
