📢 Holiday Closure Notice

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center will be closed from Wednesday, November 26 through Friday, November 28.

We’ll reopen bright and early at 8:00 AM on Monday, December 1 to continue empowering communication and transforming lives.

💬 “Judah was hesitant at first, but now he loves his sessions—and we’ve seen such a difference!”

When Judah started preschool during COVID, his parents noticed he struggled with speech clarity. They turned to Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center, where therapist Amie made every session fun and engaging.

Today, Judah speaks more clearly and confidently—and his family couldn’t be happier. “Communication was great, and we always felt comfortable and informed,” his mom shared.

For nearly a decade, hearing aids have transformed the life of Frederick. What started as a search for support turned into a life-changing experience. 💙

“One of the problems with hearing loss is that you can’t participate in social activities as much as you’d like, so you tend to have a more restricted social life. With family, it can be a little embarrassing having to repeat yourself.”

Frederick shared how isolating hearing loss once felt, and how his confidence and connection with others grew once he received the support he needed. When asked whether he’d recommend hearing aids and visiting CSHC to anyone unsure, his answer was simple:

💛 “Oh, absolutely. No question about it—hearing aids make a big difference.”

Stories like Frederick’s remind us why accessible hearing care matters. When someone regains the ability to hear clearly, they regain connection—to family, to friends, and to the world around them.

During the 24–25 school year, our incredible team of 20 speech therapists provided more than 2,300 FREE speech-language screenings across Mecklenburg, Union, Gaston, and Cabarrus counties—the greatest number of children served in a single year in our 58-year history!

Behind every number is a team member working tirelessly to bring early intervention directly to families and a child gaining confidence.💙

Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center’s mission to make superior hearing services accessible isn’t a secret! 🎯 One of the ways we do this is through our Hear to Help program, which provides new hearing aids on a sliding fee scale based on your income level. To qualify for this program, we ask that you provide proof of income showing a household income of $72,000 or less.

On top of that, most patients who qualify for Hear to Help also qualify for the N.C. Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Telecoil Program, which provides one free hearing aid.

💬 “We are so grateful for Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center!”

When Kara learned her son Adler had a speech delay, she didn’t know where to start. Then, her pediatrician referred her to CSHC—and she discovered Adler could receive speech therapy right at his daycare.

With the help of his therapist Chelsea (and a little fun with Mr. Potato Head 🥔), Adler has grown tremendously in his words and phrases. “Life with him is so much better now that he can communicate with us more,” Kara shared.

Many thanks to Kirsten for taking the time to give Kyra a tour of the Charlotte Speech and Hearing Center. It was incredible to learn about your work, your approach, and the mission that drives it.

We were especially impressed to learn that CSHC offers complimentary on-site speech-language screenings for children ages 2–5. What an extraordinary service to the community!
