Let’s Count Those Teeth🦷

Did you know your child’s smile grows in stages?

Little ones will develop 20 primary teeth — 10 on top and 10 on bottom.

As they grow, those baby teeth make way for 32 permanent teeth, including the molars that come in during the teen years.

Counting teeth is a fun way to track your child’s dental development and spot anything unusual early. Regular check-ups help make sure every tooth is right where it should be🪥

Halloween fun doesn’t have to mean a month of sugar overload! Here are a few ways to help your child enjoy their treats without harming their teeth:

🍬Sort and Set Limits- Let your child choose a few favorites and set aside the rest. Keeping a small “treat stash” teaches moderation and keeps sugar exposure lower.

🦷Stick to Treat Times- Try offering candy right after meals rather than throughout the day. Saliva levels are higher after eating, which helps wash away sugar and protect enamel.

💧Encourage Water, Not Juice- Remind your child to drink water after sweets to rinse sugar off their teeth. Bonus points if it’s fluoridated tap water!

🪥Brush and Floss Before Bed- Now is the perfect time to make brushing fun — try a new toothbrush, a colorful timer, or a sticker chart to encourage good habits.

🧡 Remember: A little candy can be part of the fun — what matters most is daily brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits to keep smiles healthy year-round!
