Today, we celebrated our beloved assistant Courtney’s upcoming birth of her baby boy with a sprinkle at our monthly staff meeting! We had food and cake, reminisced, and played a bunch of games together, including making our own babies out of Play-Doh (Judge Courtney deemed Trish the victor). Courtney will be out for a bit on maternity leave starting next week. We wish her a smooth and happy birthing of our next employee (just kidding).

Happy Halloween AAC family! Not to be too spooky, but recently, the 8th bat to test positive for rabies in Meck County hit the news. Rabies is required by law for a reason - it is always fatal for both animals and people and it is not able to be diagnosed by any means other than post-mortem.

If your beloved furry vampire is due, overdue, or coming due, give us a call and we will get them up to date (and maybe trick them with a treat 😉).

One dog was exposed to rabies by a bat, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg officials.

This week is Deaf Dog Awareness Week! It's tough to confidently assess hearing in our furred companions (have you witnessed Dr. Aquino trying to squeak the rubber chicken yet?), but deafness is not so uncommon amongst our canine friends. It can take some adjustment, but our deaf buddies are capable and worthy of love! Check out this infographic made by our own Amélie for more information. 🐶👂🦻🐶

Many common human foods can be dangerous for dogs.

Chocolate, grapes, raisins, avocado, onions, and garlic are all toxic and can cause serious health issues like kidney failure, stomach upset, or damage to red blood cells.

Even a small bite can be harmful. When in doubt, skip the table scraps and stick to dog-safe treats made just for them 🐶

Our Story

Our mission statement at Armstrong Animal Clinic is to "provide high-quality veterinary care in a warm and friendly environment." We carry this out by: •Making patient and client care our number one priority. •Conducting ourselves with utmost integrity, a joyful spirit, and a servant’s heart. •Displaying a positive attitude to clients, patients, and co-workers. •Taking pride in our work. •Creating a clean, warm, friendly, and professional atmosphere in our hospital while maintaining a competent and compassionate staff. •Reinvesting profits into new technology. •Diligently continuing professional education. •Establishing sound relationships with specialists of high integrity to provide specialty care beyond the scope of a family veterinary practice. Dr. George Armstrong established this practice in 1944. He was a 1941 graduate of Kansas State University School of Veterinary Medicine and a native of Belmont, North Carolina. The original location of the practice facility was on Elizabeth Avenue and Cecil Street, but Dr. Armstrong was forced to relocate to this location in 1978 when the campus of Central Piedmont Community College expanded and took over his property. Then, the practice was owned by Dr. Charles B. Williston, a 1978 graduate of Louisiana State University and a native of Oxford, Mississippi. Dr. Charles joined the practice upon graduation from veterinary school in May 1978. He became the sole owner in 1980 when Dr. Armstrong’s failing health forced him to retire. The name of the practice was unchanged, a tribute to the legacy established by its beloved founder. In 2015 Dr. Charles and his wife, Dr. Jane, retired after 35 wonderful years as the owners and veterinarians at Armstrong Animal Clinic. Dr. David Gallagher and his wife, Dr. Marnie Gallagher, are now the current owners of Armstrong Animal Clinic. Dr. Marnie is a veterinarian at Mint Hill Animal Hospital, but she stops by Armstrong from time to time. Dr. Papillon Collins joined the Armstrong team in October 2017, having recently graduated from UGA. Stop in for a visit to our location or contact us today.
