CBI Associates are going above and beyond to exemplify the Live Love Serve Philosophy this month. See what CBI Piedmont Triad did to kick-off our platform-wide Havest Month. Stay tuned for updates from other locations throughout the month of October.

CBI's Piedmont Triad Office kicked off Harvest Month by volunteering with the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC. Second Harvest has a mission of providing food assistance through a network of partners, while educating and engaging local communities in the elimination of hunger and its causes. The CBI Team put all hands on deck packing food, stacking boxes and organizing pallets that would be delivered to hungry families throughout the community. CBI PT is the first location to participate in our platform wide Harvest Month, and we couldn't be more proud of their Live Love Serve spirit. Stay tuned for more updates from other locations throughout the month of October as CBI Associates do their part to fight hunger across the Southeast.

Last month, seven CBI Associates and two guests traveled to Dunlow, West Virginia to meet student volunteers from Immaculata High School and Seton Hall University to participate in a weeklong home build for local resident Greg Sowards. Dunlow is an area of extreme poverty where many in the community struggle to make ends meet day after day. CBI and the Live Love Serve Foundation have a unique tradition of outreach in this area and for the last six years CBI has sponsored a Christmas Event at the Dunlow Rec Center, where Associates visit and serve residents a warm meal, hand out gifts and necessities and offer a heartwarming Christmas experience that many families would not have if it weren’t for the donation of others. This year, CBI took their holiday outreach a step further when they volunteered to participate in this exciting homebuild for Mr. Sowers.

CBI Associates continue to demonstrate a Live, Love, Serve mentality in CBI's markets. Read more below about how CBI Charlotte recently partnered with a number of industry and local organizations to provide furniture for the Veteran's Bridge Home Salute to Service Lounge.

CBI recently partnered with a number of industry and local organizations to provide furniture for the Veteran's Bridge Home Salute to Service Lounge in Charlotte, North Carolina. Veterans Bridge Home is a non-profit organization that connects Veterans and their families in any state of transition to the community. Through their network of partners, they help Veterans navigate employment, create social connections, and settle their families. The Salute to Service Lounge serves as a community gathering center for the men and women who have served in the US Military and provides them with any, and all resources that they need in order to transition to civilian life.

CBI donated sixty percent of the furniture in the new Salute to Service Lounge, and solutions provided were inclusive of lounge furniture, private office and collaborative solutions. CBI was proud to be part of this collaborative effort to support the Veteran’s Bridge Home organization and was thrilled to see the excitement the Charlotte community had for this great cause. CBI and the Live Love Serve Foundation have a long-standing relationship with V***r Ministries, a non-profit organization committed to serving hundreds of thousands of people in extreme poverty around the world and spreading God’s word through fellowship and community. CBI and the Live Love Serve Foundation are proud to renew their commitment to V***r Ministries for the next five-years by agreeing to provide a combined $100,000 per year donation to V***r Ministries to help further their work and support their mission. This commitment combined with past donations means that CBI and the Live Love Serve Foundation will have provided $850,000 in support to V***r Ministries by the end of 2025.

A team from the Live Love Serve Foundation and CBI recently visited V***r Ministries' headquarters to meet with key team members and strategize ways to better support the organization going forward. Last week, CBI Charlotte hosted a blood drive on its campus to support the American Red Cross. Abbey Kochert, a member of CBI’s Workplace Consulting team, planned the event and worked with the American Red Cross to set-up a temporary blood bank in CBI’s Learning Center where Associates could sign-up to give blood throughout the day.

A single blood donation can save at least 3 lives and 18 CBI Associates participated in the onsite blood drive. This means within just a few hours, CBI Charlotte contributed to saving at least 54 lives via the American Red Cross. Earlier this month, CBI Workplace Solutions hosted a Spring Cleaning Sale to raise money for the Live Love Serve Foundation. The Spring Cleaning Sale was a four day event in which CBI sold excess furniture and accessories to associates and coalition partners at discounted prices. The sale raised approximately $3,000 for the Live Love Serve Foundation, CBI’s sister organization that provides financial support, volunteerism, and advocacy for individuals, religious organizations and other charities primarily in the communities CBI Workplace Solutions operates.

CBI and the Live Love Serve Foundation recently partnered to provide furniture for a new Drop-in Center created by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Piedmont Tri-County. NAMI Piedmont Tri-County was looking to create a space in their facility that would offer visitors and patients a safe, supportive and cozy environment. We became aware of the opportunity when Connie Engelbrecht, Director of Client and Community Engagement at CBI, learned that the facility was in need of furniture that aligned with their vision. Our CBI Associates ended 2020 by giving back to their communities with a great momentum that we look forward to continuing in the New Year.

Our CBI Charleston office exemplified the Live Love Serve Philosophy recently when they volunteered with the Lowcountry Food Bank of South Carolina. The Lowcountry Food Bank leads the fight against hunger throughout the ten coastal counties of South Carolina and is instrumental in ensuring many members of the Charleston community don't go hungry. Our Charleston Associates decided to support this great organization by giving their time to sort and package food bank donations that would feed area families in need. The holiday season is a busy time of year for many local food banks, and we are extremely proud of this office for continuing to love and serve others. Our CBI Nashville Team recently exemplified our Live Love Serve Philosophy when they organized an effort to support the local homeless in their community. Nashville has approximately 1,900 citizens who are currently experiencing homelessness, with 1,400 of them being housed at local shelters and 500 living on the streets. Our team in the Nashville market wanted to do something to support these community members as the winter months approach, which is why they decided to organize an effort to collect supplies for and assemble Blessing Bags for the homeless.
