💙 A Heartwarming Volunteer Story

Every volunteer brings compassion, courage, and hope into the lives of the families we serve. Today, we’re honored to share a touching testimonial from one of our incredible VIA Health Partners volunteers, whose recent experience beautifully reflects the impact of volunteering.

"Volunteering has been so fulfilling and continues to be one of my favorite ways to share my time! Because of my work with hospice and the incredible continuing education that VIA Health Partners offers, I was able to confidently lead my family through a difficult visit to Memphis this holiday to visit my grandmother in memory care. As she doesn’t recall most of us anymore, there were a lot of nerves and anxiety from my teenage boys to attend as they didn’t know what to expect. It was such a beautiful experience for all of us and I was so grateful for my experience with VIA the whole time I was there! I felt more equipped to help answer their questions about Dementia & prepared to support my grandma better than I ever would have been able to before!"

💛 Stories like this remind us how meaningful - and life-changing - volunteering can be, not only for patients and families, but for volunteers themselves. If you feel inspired to make a difference, we’d love to welcome you into our volunteer family.

The Holiday Season can be especially hard for families who have a loved one under hospice care or struggling with chronic illness. Receiving a special meal on the table at Christmastime can often be a heavy lift.

At VIA Health Partners, we work with friends like Harris Teeter and Hood Hargett Breakfast Club to ensure that any family receiving clinical care from VIA, and experiencing food insecurity, can get immediate help. Our Holiday Meals Program is underwritten, in part, by these two incredible organizations.

Our Volunteer Services Team recently received $2,500 in grocery store gift cards during Wednesday’s 5th Annual Hood Hargett Breakfast Club Santa’s Workshop, where club members and volunteers completed service projects and made donations to participating nonprofit organizations like VIA Health Partners.

In addition to the grocery store gift cards, volunteers also wrote inspirational messages on 115 holiday cards to be distributed to patients and families spending the holidays in one of our six hospice houses.

With every meal, every card, and every act of kindness, we’re reminded of the power of community and compassion. Thank you to everyone who helps us bring comfort and light to those spending the holidays under our care. ❤

If you, or someone you know, are interested in donating to our Holiday Meals program, please reach out on our website at www.viavolunteering.org/contact-form

Thank you for sharing & happy holidays! 🥰❤

Partnerships enhance our ability to deliver exceptional care to patients and families. Earlier this month, VIA Health Partners connected with Jamie Jollie at BlueDot Cares to host a concert at the Stage Door Theater in Uptown Charlotte featuring musicians Jasmine Williams and Phil Cook.

Proceeds from the benefit concert went to VIA’s Family Fund – a restricted fund used by the organization to help families, who have a loved one under clinical care, resolve issues which cause unnecessary burden and stress.

VIA uses the Family Fund to address food insecurity, keep the power and heat on, provide a holiday meal, and help patients avoid eviction - to name just a few ways the Family Fund helps to stabilize fragile families. Between corporate sponsorships and ticket sales, the event raised $14,000.

We are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of BlueDot Cares and their incredible efforts in coordinating this meaningful event. Your partnership helps us continue supporting families when they need it most. 💙

As health needs change, navigating multiple doctors, services, and decisions can feel overwhelming for patients and families. VIA Health Partners is working to simplify that experience with a care model that stays with the patient, from home-based primary care to palliative care and hospice services.
