"As a primary care provider, I have the privilege of caring for patients across many stages of life, and one topic that consistently rises to the top is cardiovascular health. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, yet much of it is preventable through everyday choices and proactive medical care. This message is especially important in February, which is recognized nationally as American Heart Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, education, and prevention of heart disease."

Dr. Michelle Schmerge founded Equity Health, a VIA Health Partners company, to make exceptional healthcare accessible to everyone, everywhere. Together with her team of clinicians and coordinators, she offers primary care, care navigation, and advanced care planning. Learn more at www.equityhealthcares.com.

Michelle was asked to write another health-aware article for Lake Norman Woman Magazine!

What's better for February (American Heart Month!) than insight into cardiovascular health - because it's not just about avoiding heart attacks or strokes. Maintaining healthy blood vessels, optimal blood pressure, balanced cholesterol levels, and steady blood sugar over time is fundamental to feeling your best, maintaining your energy, and supporting overall well-being at every stage of life.

🎶 When words fall short, music can speak.

At Chameleon’s Journey, music therapy gives grieving children and teens a safe way to express emotions they may not yet have the words for. Through drumming, songwriting, and creative expression, campers discover they are not alone - and that their feelings are welcome here.

Read how music therapy helps campers process grief in meaningful ways and supports healing through connection and creativity. 💛
