After a full year with no bodywork, this dancer walked in holding stories in his hips, tension in his jaw, compression in the chest, and fatigue wrapped around the spine. The body always speaks… it just needed someone to listen.

I’ve carried so much in my life.
Pain I didn’t speak about.
Walls I built to survive.
A heart that learned to heal itself in quiet moments when no one was watching.

But this year… I’m laying it all down.
I’m walking into my 49th year free—free to be seen, free to love fully, free to live in my purpose.

This space… this photo… it brings me right back to a chapter of deep sacrifice, quiet strength, and immeasurable loss.

From September 2016 to October 2017, I traveled back and forth between North Carolina and New York to see clients, keep my business going, and simply survive. It was one of the most demanding times in my life—but I did what I had to do.

During that time, I stayed with a beautiful soul named Allison Hickey—a longtime client who became a dear friend. She opened her heart and her home to me. She gave me space to work, to rest, and to breathe. In the midst of my hustle, she made me feel seen and supported.

In October 2017, I made the decision to stop traveling and pour everything into building my business in North Carolina. I said goodbye to Allison, expecting I’d see her again soon.

But just one day after I left, she passed away suddenly from an aneurysm.

The news broke me. It was one of the deepest losses I’ve ever felt. She was light, generosity, and grace in human form. Her presence held me up during one of the hardest seasons of my life—and just like that, she was gone.

This post is for Allison Hickey, whose kindness carried me through. And it’s for every entrepreneur, healer, and heart-led human who’s had to carry grief in one hand and purpose in the other.

I miss you, Allison. I’ll never forget you.

For over 8 years, I’ve poured myself into this business, Restorative Massage & Skincare, here in North Carolina.

many of whom have been with me since the very beginning.
