Before dental implant surgery, imaging tests help Dr. Moore at Charlotte Oral Surgery determine if a bone graft is needed. These tests provide detailed, high-resolution images that reveal the bone’s density, volume, and structure at the planned implant site.

If the images show that there isn’t enough healthy bone to securely anchor an implant, Dr. Moore can identify the specific areas where bone is lacking and plan a bone graft accordingly. Imaging also helps map out vital structures like nerves and sinuses, ensuring that any grafting or implant placement avoids these areas for your safety.

Dental X-rays give us valuable insight into your child’s wisdom teeth before they cause any trouble.

We can see how many are developing, where they’re positioned, and whether there’s enough room for them to grow in properly. This helps us plan the best care, often preventing pain, crowding, or future complications. Early insight means smoother removal (if needed) and fewer surprises for your teen’s future smile. If recommended, a bone graft is a crucial first step in preparing for your dental implant. A bone graft is a surgical procedure that adds bone material, either from the patient, a donor, or synthetic sources, to the jaw, increasing its volume and density. This creates a stable foundation for the dental implant to fuse with, which is essential for the long-term success and function of the implant.
