At KCP Physical Therapy, we witness our patients’ strength, determination, and resilience daily. But sometimes, a story reminds us why we do what we do and why we shouldn’t underestimate the human spirit. Today, we honor James O. a dedicated triathlete, cancer survivor, and recipient of the “Why Not” award. Established to honor Carson Philbin’s philosophy, “if you have a what if, turn it into a ‘why not.” James completed a 1.2-mile swim, a 56.7-mile bike ride, and a full 13.5-mile run. His training discipline and positive attitude inspire everyone around him, reminding us that we can overcome our challenges. As he continues to train, swim, and race, he inspires us, showing us that recovery isn’t just about healing the body; it’s about reclaiming your life, one goal at a time. Thank you, James, for allowing us to be part of your journey.

KCP Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist Dr. Ashley Williams had the honor of participating in a panel discussion today at a public screening event of the new film The M Factor. The film featured many leading experts who helped bring attention to an important topic we should be talking more about.

During the panel discussion, Ashley shared strategies for addressing some of the challenges that women going through menopause are likely to encounter, including having potentially weaker pelvic floor muscles (that can lead to incontinence) and beginning to see musculoskeletal changes like decreased bone density or muscle strength. She noted that physical activity and strength training are cornerstones to any woman’s healthy aging journey.

Thanks to the fabulous for organizing this incredible SOLD OUT event!
We loved being a part of it!

Injury prevention is a key component of our workout classes. We love helping our clients get stronger AND avoid injuries.

We offer both in-person and online fitness classes for all ages and abilities. Before your first class, we meet with you one-on-one for an initial consultation to learn about your current abilities, limitations, and past injuries and experiences. During workouts, we help with form, modifications when necessary, and providing a supportive environment for all.

Let us know if we can help you reach your fitness and strength goals!

Joan takes advantage of KCP’s PT-led group fitness classes both in-person and on Zoom.

She says she appreciates the support and direction she receives during them. “All of us have issues, and they keep track of everything. If someone has a bad knee or shoulder problem, they just look out for us and tell us how to modify any exercise that might not be good for us at the time. I don’t know where else you would get this!”

We love helping people like Joan feel strong and fit! And yes - we can modify any exercise to suit your current abilities or limitations.

To learn more about our group exercise classes throughout the week, give our office a call!

At the age of 30, DeeDee was experiencing both urine leakage and pelvic pain. Her urogynecologist recommended KCP for pelvic floor therapy.

During PT, she learned how many of the recurring issues she was having with back pain, knee pain, pelvic instability, and hypermobility were all connected.
Her treatment plan included learning how to relax her pelvic floor, engage her core, and employ diaphragmatic breathing.

DeeDee says that she appreciated the holistic approach with her treatment and that she has now learned to manage her symptoms and maintain her body.

“It helped give me my life back,” she says.

Sadly, we’ve heard the stories: many PT practices in Charlotte have waiting lists or long delays for clients to schedule their first appointments. We know that when you’re hurting and ready for rehab, you’re ready NOW!

We make new patient appointments a priority and will make every attempt to schedule your first appointment within 24-48 business hours from your first call to us.

And - in case you don’t already know- North Carolina is what’s know as a Direct Access state - meaning not only can you come to see a physical therapist without a doctor’s prescription, you can also see the provider of your choice. We’re in-network with many providers; check your policy for details.

If you’re ready for rehab, we’re ready to help! Call us if you need us - we’re located in the Ballantyne area in Charlotte.
