A little weekend nugget:
Every day presents a new opportunity for growth, healing, and connection. It’s easy to get lost in the pressures of tomorrow or the regrets of yesterday, but the present moment is where change happens.
Take a deep breath and ask yourself:

What is one thing I can do today to nourish my mind, body, or spirit?

How can I bring more kindness into my interactions with myself and others?

What small step can I take toward the life I envision?

Remember, progress isn't about perfection—it's about showing up, even in small ways. Embrace the moments that come your way today, and give yourself permission to celebrate the little victories. You're worth it.

Laziness kills vision. Anger kills wisdom. Fear kills dreams. Ego kills growth. Jealousy kills peace. Doubt kills confidence.

Yesterday, the Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, organized a mental health symposium titled "Protecting Our Future." The event featured a panel of mental health professionals from the Divine Nine community who engaged in meaningful dialogue addressing the mental health challenges facing our youth, their families, and our broader community.

Topics discussed included identifying signs of mental health challenges in young people, the impact of social media, available resources, navigating evolving societal norms and pressures, tips for fostering healthy parental engagement, and exploring potential collaborative efforts among community organizations and agencies to raise awareness and advocate for youth mental health.

I had the incredible honor of sitting alongside some of the most skilled clinicians in the Charlotte, NC area, including:

Dr. Sonia Richardson Ph.D, -AKA.

Dr. Travaris Hicks Ed. D- KAΨ

Reggie Gilkesson, MSW, LCSW-ΩΨΦ

Dr. Vanessa Bowles, Ph.D-ΔΣΘ

Derek Carter MSW, LCSW-ΦβΣ

Brittany Clark, MA, LMFT-ΖΦβ

Sylvia Dionne Brown-ΣΓΡ

I wanted to extend my sincere gratitude to all contributors, both practitioners in the field and attendees, for enriching the conversation and fostering a supportive environment for dialogue and collaboration. It was truly a pleasure to share the stage and the room with each of you.

Thank you to the AKA President Carla Archie, the program team, and my point of contact, Tanya Hughes for creating a phenomenal event and allowing me to serve as a panelist.

I don't know who needs to hear this but....

I heard somewhere that: You cannot stay in environments where people don’t know the true value of you. If you stay in environments where people don’t recognize the value of you, you will shrink your gift to the size of what they can stand. That’s a factor that can lead to anxiety, depression, and stress because you have had to shrink into a form where people can tolerate you.

The way to understand Forgiveness:

Just saying sorry is cheap. The first step is to recognize your mistake, the second is apologizing and the third is proving with action to be worthy of forgiveness.

Even if you do everything you can, however, the final decision is always up to the person you hurt. You can't demand to be forgiven. Even of you think you have compensated them properly, what you believe doesn't matter, only there feeling do.
