At LifeShare, we honor the legacy of our organ, eye, and tissue donors by hanging special ornaments on our Christmas tree. Each ornament was created by donor families, in memory of their loved one. This tree serves as an important reminder to our team about the heroic donors and the lives they saved 💙🎄💚

David loved to cook in his outdoor kitchen for his family and friends. His wife, Janice, told us he was a wonderful dad, uncle, son, and brother. He and Janice were married for 40 years.

In his spare time, David loved boat rides and listening to Jimmy Buffett. He donated his eyes, giving 2 people the gift of sight. If you’d like us to highlight your donor hero, you can nominate them at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Donor-Families/Honoring-Donors/

A leadership meeting at LifeShare is always very serious business. Well, almost always. They definitely take the phrase "Work hard, play hard" very literally 😉

When you're grieving, it may feel hard to truly enjoy the holidays. But just because someone you love is gone that doesn't mean they can't still be a part of your holiday season🎄❄️🕎

We asked family members of our organ, eye, and tissue donors to share how they honor their loved ones this time of year. We'd love to know what you do to remember and recognize the people you miss during the holidays. Let us know in the comments below!

You can read more about this in our latest blog: LifeShareCarolinas.org/grief-and-the-holidays-honoring-those-we-miss/

Office is perfectly decorated, but at what cost? The holiday spirit and any sense of teamwork have been destroyed by the typical suspects: our marketing team 😞🎄

Etta was known for her legendary hugs. Her husband said those hugs made you feel all the love and warmth she had to offer. He said Etta would light up the room as soon as she walked in because of her smile and laughter.

She loved her dog, Sam, and cat, Sophie very much. In her spare time, she also tended to her beautiful roses. Her husband said the number one way she spent her time was trying to find the best way to help others.

Etta saved 1 life through the donation of her liver. If you’d like us to highlight your donor hero, you can nominate them at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Donor-Families/Honoring-Donors/

Everyone gather around, we have an announcement! Meet Mel, the 2025 recipient of our Heart of LifeShare award.

Mel is tough and a bit feisty, but so loveable. She's known for purposefully intimidating new teammates on their first day but also for being one of the most deeply compassionate teammates at LifeShare.

She works humbly in our eye bank, honoring the wishes of donors and providing the gift of sight to cornea recipients no matter what. Her leader described it best, "She doesn't do it any of it for praise. She does it because it matters."

We're proud to highlight Mel as a recipient for this award, created in honor of our late teammate, Whitney Hoppes. The Heart of LifeShare honors a dedicated teammate who exceeds expectations of their role, is passionate about our mission of saving lives, and carries themselves with the positive attitude that Whitney was known for.

Danikka was quiet, but she had a great laugh and could make a great joke. Her mother told us Danikka was a proud mom who loved her family and the Lord. She says Danikka was her best friend and the best daughter a mother could ask for.

In her spare time, Danikka loved watching Liam Neeson and Jason Statham movies. She would bake brownies for her teenage son and loved working to provide for him so she could save up to buy them a house.

Danikka’s tissue was supposed to be donated, but sadly, couldn’t be transplanted. Because she said “yes” to donation, we’re proud to call Danikka a “Donor in Spirit.” If you’d like us to highlight your donor hero, you can nominate them at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Donor-Families/Honoring-Donors/

Did you know you can give the gift of sight through the donation of your corneas? As we wrap up National Eye Donation Month, we asked our eye bank team to give us a behind the scenes look at how eye donation happens 👀

Laurel had a memorable laugh and her sister said people couldn’t help but smile when they heard it. She also said Laurel’s faith was very important to her. It informed the way she interacted with the world, always helping others before helping herself.

She was a published nature photographer, capturing all sorts of Floridian critters while she lived there. The donation of her corneas provided 2 people with the gift of sight.

If you’d like us to highlight your donor hero, you can nominate them at LifeShareCarolinas.org/Donor-Families/Honoring-Donors/
