Save this so you know what to ask! And share this with a friend who ended up with a giant PT bill or with a colleague who is overworked and burned out ⬇️
I know because I did it too. I even self reported 🤷🏼♀️ I regret it and want better for you as a patient AND for your providers who are just trying to keep their head above water and stay employed.
ESPECIALLY if you have a high deductible, it’s very likely you’re getting stuck with a bill for services you didn’t actually receive. Hear me out - if you got 60 minutes of 1:1 care, then yes! 60 minutes of CPT codes makes sense. But if you had 3 other people on tables next to you and you all got billed 60 minutes of 1:1 care? Wrong.
If we don’t start yapping about it it stays the same. I don’t even accept insurance anymore, but I understand why people use their insurance and am tired of having them end up in my clinic after realizing that $20 you took from them/session was basically a deposit on the surprise bill they’ll be getting in the mail.
And if you’re a PT billing this way - it’s YOUR license. I UNDERSTAND you don’t want to kick back! But remember - you’re the one on salary. You don’t get paid any different by seeing those 4 people/hour than you would 1/hour. Wanna know who does get paid different while you’re running around like a chicken with your head cut off? Your HQ.
Is this something you’ve been through?
xoxo
