😵‍💫 Why Chlorine Might Be Overstimulating Your Child
(Especially with ASD/Autism)

Not all pool meltdowns are behavioral.

➡️ Overstimulated at the pool? It might not be the crowd or noise.
Chlorine fumes can irritate the nervous system—especially for kids with sensory processing issues or autism.

➡️ The vagus nerve (your child’s calm command center) doesn’t love strong chemical smells. Too much chlorine? It can trigger fight-or-flight mode fast.

➡️ Smell overload = brain overload. For neurodivergent kids, that chlorine scent can feel like a sensory fire alarm going off.

➡️ Coughing, red eyes, wild energy post-pool? That’s not always “a good time.” Consider saltwater pools or UV-filtered options—they’re gentler on sensitive systems.

➡️ Quick tip for chlorine reduction: Have your child rinse off before and after swimming. It helps limit chlorine absorption through skin and hair.

This is my 8 year old son with adhd, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and CAPD working on his focus and concentration during our homeschool day. These Balance-auditory-visual-exercises (Bavx) are very helpful and typically taught for ages 5-105 or anyone able to bounce a ball and follow the leader! Bal-a-vis-x uses both sides of the brain. It requires crossing midline, visual tracking, hand-eye coordination, complete focus, and the rhythm is both soothing and also helpful for improving reading fluency. We teach Bavx to all ages for focus, calming, and improving mental clarity!

So excited to have completed Infant Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT). We saw infants from 2 days old to 18 months over the last 3 days and saw so many positive changes in breast feeding, constipation, skull shape, reflux, sleep, emotional regulation, eye tracking, movement, and intra-oral mobility! So many happy mommas to see such a change in just a couple sessions! Thrilled to get back to the clinic and love on all the babies!!
