Now offering individual packages to learn more about yoga and how it may benefit you on your wellness journey.

These individual sessions are great for beginners who want to learn more about yoga and meditation before joining a larger class.

First sessions include consultations to explore goals, individual needs, and skill level. Follow up sessions include individualized practices.

Individual work is available in person and virtually.

WE ARE BACK!!! Yoga and Meditation at Three Strand Wellness is returning to in person classes.

Start your week off right with Monday yoga at 10:30am and meditation at 12pm.

Set your intentions for the weekend with Friday morning yoga at 830.

All classes are gentle practices and great for all levels of yoga.

As we continue our 2022 goals, or just any goals at any time of the year, please remember shame is not a great motivator. We may be doing it and not even realize it.

If you say things like

I should be doing this
I should be doing that
I shouldn't be doing this
I shouldn't be doing that

you are shaming yourself into your goal!

Its intention is there, but the impact can be anxiety, depression, low sense of self-worth, and self doubt just to name a few.

If our goal is motivation let's find some more helpful and supportive approaches. Such as

I got this!
I got that!
I'm on my way!
I'm so excited about my growth!

Monday Meditation

Today's meditation is Calm Space. This Meditation reveals just how powerful our thoughts can be. We can imagine a calm, relaxing image, use our 5 senses to have that image come alive for us, and our bodies will feel it, in this moment, like we are there.

Calm Space can be used as a quick, 1 min meditation if you need a moment for grounding. It can be the focus of an extended 10 min meditation as part of your meditation practice.

Your Calm Space may change. And your practice can include building a list of spaces to draw from. Today it may be a fun beach vacation you once took, tomorrow it's a mountain scene that you made up in your mind, next week it can be you at Hogwarts winning the Quidditch Cup. Or maybe its just the space you are currently in and you want to take it all in.

Whatever your Calm Space may be, enjoy and take care of you.

The internet is FILLED with positive affirmations, memes that simplify messages, and helpful posts that can validate our thoughts, feelings and experiences.

I have heard people use various positive messages in very negative ways. Posts where the intention is for motivation, support, and validation but the IMPACT is shame, guilt, and invalidating ourselves.

My goal with exploring these questionable quotations is to reveal the positive benefits they are intended for, acknowledge how they can be misused, and provide further insight so we can answer for ourselves "does this serve me or hurt me?"

For example: "New year, New me"

What a fun quote! Its an exciting mantra to celebrate the change of the year, be motivated for healthy goals we are passionate about and celebrate our growth.

Its underlying implication is that we need to change, that there is something wrong with us and for growth we need to be "new," transformed, and living a whole new life.

A world of NO!

Because if our progress is not at the speed we would like, or if we don't accomplish what we set out for, we are still good enough. We deserve compassion on our journeys for progress and growth.

So, if this quote helps you maintain positive focus, motivation and celebration for your goals GO FOR IT! If you find yourself using this quote in a manner that prompts guilt, shame, and self doubt. DITCH IT!

HAPPY MONDAY!

Here is a helpful meditation when you find your self in a good space and want to take it all in. Its like taking a mental, visual and physical snap shot.

Using your five senses is an excellent way to connect mind and body.

This can also be used if you find yourself very distracted and wanting to bring your focus back to the present moment.

Having a delicious meal? Listening to a great song? On a beautiful walk? Do a 5 senses meditation! 🧘‍♀️
