Feed Your Zest Nutrition & Wellness

Feed Your Zest Nutrition & Wellness Hi! I’m McKenzie Caldwell, founder and lead dietitian of Feed Your Zest Nutrition & Wellness.

We help folks heal from perfectionism around food and their bodies so they can live fully nourished through fertility, pregnancy and beyond. I’m a strong believer that your body is wise, and that tuning into your innate wisdom is powerful. I want to help you find that power through reconnecting to your body, and with a little nutrition science along the way, reach your reproductive health goals and ultimately live your best life. I believe nutrition should be truly holistic - which means it takes into account your mental and emotional health too. That’s why I take a weight-inclusive, eating disorder informed approach to my practice. No matter the size of your body, you deserve to receive quality healthcare, feel at peace with food and have positive body image.

This is not ok, no one should be made to feel afraid to engage in their community and take care of their bodies.

Feed Your Zest has applied for the 2025 with Gusto ! This program awards $50k to 5 small businesses in each region of the US. “The Gusto Impact Awards celebrate those businesses making a real difference, no matter how small.” We know there’s so many other impactful small businesses here in the CLT area, so we wanted to share this opportunity with y’all! Applications are due 11/21 at 4pm PST.

Here’s why we think Feed Your Zest should win:

Feed Your Zest was founded as a solo nutrition counseling practice by McKenzie Caldwell, MPH, RDN in January 2019. Born out of a dream to fill gaps in perinatal care, McKenzie was on a mission to use evidence-based nutrition science to help folks from all backgrounds live fully nourished through fertility, pregnancy, and beyond.

Research shows that when women and couples receive culturally sensitive, compassionate nutrition counseling, their pregnancy outcomes improve, and their long-term risk for diabetes and heart disease decreases. McKenzie noticed there was a gap in offerings - nutrition care existed for low income pregnant folks receiving WIC or Medicaid, but nutrition care focused specifically on reproductive health for middle-income people utilizing insurance through their employer was severely lacking.

5 years in, McKenzie her small nutrition private practice to a thriving business of 3 dietitians. Together, the Feed Your Zest team has helped hundreds of people care for their bodies with compassionate nutrition interventions that work, all while accepting insurance to help keep nutrition accessible. From teachers to mental health therapists and stay at home mothers, Feed Your Zest has helped women and couples from all walks of life improve their nutrition and thrive on their reproductive health journeys.

💭 Remember in school when we were taught pregnancy just…happens?

The TRUTH is, for most people it doesn’t happen the first month (or even the first few months) of trying.

And that’s completely normal!

Adding support like a dietitian can help you set realistic expectations AND prepare your body for a healthy pregnancy.
