This morning, we enjoyed a special visit from our friends in third grade at Charlotte Jewish Day School. They prepared a wonderful program for our residents to celebrate Thanksgiving together, recited poems and completed a gratitude craft. Students and residents paired up to make adorable turkeys and wrote what they are thankful for on the feathers. We always love their visits and the joy they bring to our community.

Last Thursday, our residents enjoyed another wonderful monthly Sip & Paint session. With our friend Shannon McKohnle Art leading a step-by-step class, everyone created their own beautiful winding-road fall landscape. Each painting turned out unique and truly stunning!

Today is World Kindness Day and it reminds us how meaningful even the smallest gesture can be. Our residents created adorable gift bags that we will be handing out to our associates. Each one includes thoughtful items that share the message to never forget the work you do the person you are and the difference you make. Acts of kindness like these brighten our community and remind us how much we can lift one another up. Let us continue to choose compassion today and every day.

Halloween has been full of excitement here at Waltonwood Cotswold. We loved welcoming the preschoolers from Providence Methodist Church for reverse trick or treating, and our residents had so much fun seeing all the creative costumes. Our Halloween social and costume party brought plenty of treats and festive fun, including a Halloween themed Bingo. We’ll be wrapping up our celebrations with a special Halloween dinner tonight. It’s been a wonderful week of laughter, community, and spooky fun for everyone.

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful outing to the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market this week, where they picked out pumpkins to help decorate our community for the season. We love everything about fall and the chance to celebrate it together with a little fresh air and friendship.

We had a wonderful time at our Autumn Luncheon this past weekend. Residents and their families enjoyed a delicious buffet featuring salmon, chicken and prime rib, along with a variety of accompaniments and beautiful desserts. Guests also sipped on apple cider mimosas while enjoying live piano entertainment by Ethan Uslan. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special.

We continued our celebration of Active Aging Week with a lively 1950s-themed sock hop social yesterday. Residents enjoyed classic Cheerwine and root beer floats while tapping their toes to favorite hits from the decade. The afternoon was made even more special with live music from Patrick Hudson. It was a real blast from the past and proof that rock and roll never gets old!

We began Active Aging Week with a heartfelt celebration of creativity and connection. Our theme this year is "The Good Ol’ Days", and we opened with an inspiring resident art show. Our gifted artists showcased their remarkable work, featuring watercolor, woodworking, embroidery, acrylic, and more. In addition, residents collaborated on a colorful butterfly mural that symbolizes growth, joy, and transformation. Each artist had the opportunity to share the story behind their favorite piece with the audience. It was a memorable start to a week filled with exciting events ahead.

A great night was had at the Belk Theater on Wednesday! For Patricia’s Adventure, she got to see Wicked on Broadway. She loves musicals, and previously enjoyed attending shows with her late husband, Jim. On Wednesday night, she was transported back in time, remembering fondly her date nights with Jim throughout the years. The show was beautiful, and we hope to catch another one soon!

We’re welcoming the first official day of fall in style! Our residents had a wonderful time creating festive door hangers, and now their creations are proudly on display throughout the community. This is just the beginning, with many more seasonal crafts on the way to keep the autumn spirit alive.
