Asymmetrical Crawling is a tricky one β¬οΈ
As much as all PTs would love for crawling to be βnormalβ and symmetrical, we care more about addressing the underlying deficits.
Three things I always rule out: hip instability, visual deficits, spinal asymmetries. ππ» I think we can all agree itβs worth catching these things early on rather than waiting.
Chances are itβs usually rooted in muscular asymmetries such as a tight hip flexor.
Torticollis: this is often times the culprit. If your baby has a head tilt or head turn preference, research and therapists support getting it treated early. This is not a βwait and seeβ thing. Find ya a good PT and treat the tight/weak muscles. π―
Fun fact: we actually call crawling βcreepingβ in the PT world. Crawling actually refers to army crawling if weβre being fancy. ππΌββοΈ
