It’s that time of the week – Fast Fact Friday time! 🎊

An IUD (or intrauterine device) is a small, T-shaped contraceptive device inserted through the cervix into the uterus. They prevent pregnancy for long periods of time and can be used in conjunction with other types of birth control. 🤝

Most people know they can get an IUD from their OBGYN, but did you know that BRHD’s Family Planning nurses can also place and remove them? 🤔 We offer x3 different kinds of IUD so you can choose the one that works best for you! 😎

Nexplanon is a long-term contraceptive arm implant offered by our Family Planning Program 💪 It can prevent pregnancy for up to 5 years, and is the most effective form of reversible birth control! 🔄

BWA in Greene County has officially been lifted!

Boil Water Advisory Lifted for Greene County Department
Water & Sewer Customers

(April 23, 2026)—As of today, Thursday, April 23, 2026, the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted for all Greene County Department Water and Sewer customers. As expected, both required water samples came back negative for any bacteria, so the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted effective immediately. The Boil Water Advisory was issued as a precaution on April 20, 2026, after a contractor cut the line causing a service interruption and loss of water pressure to some of the homes in western Greene County.

After repairs were made to the broken water main, a series of bacterial samples were collected and sent to a state certified lab. All samples collected on April 21, 2026, and April 22, 2026, were absent of both total coliform and E. coli bacteria in the area where the precautionary Boil Water Advisory is lifted.

Residents can safely resume using their household water as normal.

There is a boil water advisory due to the water main break on 4/20/2026. Visit the county website at https://greenecountyva.gov/DocumentCenter/View/1686/Boil-Water-Advisory-April-20-2026-PDF for instructions regarding how to boil water. Properties affected include Fairlane Drive off Route 33, Briar Patch off Route 33, Industrial Drive off Route 33 in Ruckersville and everything west of that down U.S. Route 33 including the Town of Stanardsville. This only applies if you are on the County water system and not well or other water system in Greene County. Tests will be done on the water system and once completed, you will be notified through the same way that the boil water advisory is lifted.

All properties west of the Industrial Park should boil water until it is lifted. The public will be notified through alerts when the boil water advisory is lifted.

A private contractor doing work for a private project hit a water connection near the Industrial Park in Ruckersville, causing a shut down and loss of pressure for all water users west of the Industrial Park to include all of Stanardsville.
