Irlen Syndrome is a condition which impacts how the brain processes visual information.

The kids we see are often the ones having serious reading difficulties.

The adults we see are often doing fairly well but have persistent symptoms which haven't responded appropriately to medical care.

We'd LOVE to be screening more people, as we suspect there are many who are struggling possibly unnecessarily.

Yes! Dr. Adams works on extremities (your limbs), including ankles, feet, shoulders, hips ... and she can often address multiple areas of the body during the same visit. We also do what we can to help our patients learn about their body and how to take care of it!

So she can work on your shoulders, feet, wrists, and spine all in the same visit, which is something many other healthcare practitioners aren't able to do.

There are many reasons why a kid (or adult) may be struggling, but you don't know for sure why, until you've properly ruled things out and Irlen Syndrome can definitely cause people to struggle even when it seems they shouldn't be

Did you know businesses pay a transaction fee on card swipes?

The percentage is based on the card used

High-reward-credit-cards have the highest percentage bc that's how you GET those rewards

When possible (& businesses know it isn't always possible), use cash or check as those have $0 in fees; this is a case of "every little bit helps"

We know big box stores aren't paying 3+% on those card swipes like small businesses, so let's help out the little guys!

Irlen Syndrome is a condition which impacts how the brain processes visual information.

Those with Irlen Syndrome are often quite sensitive to bright lighting, particularly artificial lighting.

They will prefer a cloudy day over a very bright sunny day (especially if it's a bright sunny day after some freshly fallen snow!).

Using dim lighting, a hat, sunglasses, etc can be helpful for some with Irlen Syndrome.

Fluorescent lighting is everywhere but can also be a significant challenge for those with Irlen Syndrome.

Sometimes alternative lighting can be used (and generally preferred for everyone) & sometimes special covers can be put over a light to help decrease symptoms for them.
