🐾💛 April Fools' Day? Sure. But our appreciation for our volunteers? That is 100% real.

April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and we could not let it pass without shouting out the amazing people who are the backbone of everything we do! Without them, we could not raise, train and place the dogs who go on to change the lives of individuals living with a disabilities— helping them live more fully and more independently. 🐕🎨

All month long we will be spotlighting our incredible volunteer groups and the important role they each play. 💛

A very special Art Unleashed reveal … and this one is especially close to our hearts. 🐾✨

Created by “Friends of Josie,” a group of Virginia Tech employees, this collaborative piece is all about the comfort, connection, and happiness that can brighten even the hardest days. We won’t give too much away… but there’s a sweet inspiration behind it that feels especially fitting today. 🍯👀

Facility Dog Josie was on site to supervise… though supervising is clearly exhausting work. 😴🐶

Taking the “service” in service dog to heart—Dodger’s Lawncare Service is officially on duty 🌱🐾😄

All jokes aside, this moment represents months of hard work that started when he was just 8 weeks old. Now in advanced training, SDV Dodger and his trainer are putting his skills to the test in real-world environments. Even in a busy home improvement store, he stays locked in—focused on his handler, navigating distractions, and even confidently jumping onto unfamiliar surfaces.

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. This is what dedication, consistency, and trust look like 💙
