The Christopher Center had some VIP’s show up for their Christmas party today!! Santa and Mrs. Claus joined in on the festivities and posed for many pictures. Since this is a very busy time of year for Santa, he asked Nate from Trinity Hospice to step in to assist Mrs.Claus, our Executive Director, Rachel. Dennis and The Crew performed a great set of Christmas songs, while families and friends gathered with the residents and enjoyed a wonderful meal together. Our kitchen prepared shrimp, ham, chicken medallions, green beans and mashed potatoes, followed by delicious cheesecake. Another VIP shoutout to Rachel Mayo for food delivery from the kitchen and setting up and breaking down the party, Tika Taylor for help with shopping and decorating and of course Kim, Cherie and Jill and all of the Christopher Center staff for being incredible hosts. Our friend Rich, from AT Home Care Staffing, Inc also stopped by to see how everyone was doing. We are grateful for the kindness of our beloved community partners that take the time to make our residents and staff feel loved and supported.

We would like to take a moment to thank some special friends of Our Lady of Peace for coming to sing Christmas Carols for our residents this past week. WorldStrides Charlottesville and Aldersgate United Methodist Church each came with a great group of people. Our residents love when friends from our external community join them in their home for sing alongs, games and activities. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

There’s so much love and appreciation going out to the OLOP staff for their tireless efforts making the Christmas parties a success. Starting with Life Enrichment getting our entire community decorated so beautifully. To see it all in person is a sight to behold. They also poured and served the wine at our parties. The Dining staff. All of the ordering, prep work, cooking, serving bussing and cleaning. We could never do what we do without all of you. Every one of you. OLOP staff, from all departments, that stayed each night and helped seat everyone, serve, bus tables, clean up, take the family photos … the list goes on. The MAIN thing that is evident is our love for our residents AND each other. Thank you for all that you do… not just the past 3 nights but every day that you are here. You are all loved and appreciated!!!

Freezing temperatures didn’t stop our “first of three” Residential/Assisted Living Christmas parties from taking place. So much fun was had as our residents enjoyed a 3 course meal with their families. Live music provided by the Jim Howe Quartet and our wine was from Cardinal Point Vineyard & Winery! We recently had the pleasure of having Dawn Jones, Marketing & Business Development Specialist, from Loving Arms Care and the UVA Law Students come help us decorate our Christmas Tree in our Nursing Center. Afterwards, they all stayed for a bit and got to know some of our residents. Our community partners and volunteers mean the world to us. We are grateful for everyone that comes to OLOP to do wonderful things for our residents.

Our resident Susan, aka Oscar’s Mom, has started teaching Bridge for beginners to any of our residents who have never played, or would like to brush up on their skills to start joining in with the bridge club. Oscar was excited to get up to the card and game room to show off his new bone that he carried up himself!!
