Our 60-bed neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is regularly at capacity, which means UVA Health Children's can’t always accept patients from other hospitals across the state and region who need care from the hospital’s team of top neonatal specialists.

To ensure newborns across Virginia and beyond with critical illnesses and complex medical conditions can access world-class, highly specialized care, we're expanding our NICU to a total of 100 beds by 2028.

Yesterday was one of the best days of the year in the NICU. Our annual tradition of Santa and Mrs Claus visiting the babies!

For those of you waiting (very patiently) for an update on your t-shirt, we finally have them in stock and ready for pick-up. We have several dates available for now...(see below).

At your arrival to UVA, please text/call Gabrielle Miller at 434-465-8773 with your vehicle description and she will meet you at the entrance of the main hospital. These are the current dates/times available for pick-up:
Monday, December 18 - 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Tuesday, December 26 - 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Thursday, December 28 - 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
Wednesday, January 3 - 8:00 am to 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Monday, January 15 - 8:00 am to 6:00 pm
