Lucky me to have spent the last 2 years with the gifted doctors and staff at VTOC Vision Tech Optometry Center, Inc.

And how poetic to get to see staff and patients from Woodrow Wilson Rehab Center Wilson rehabilitation center on the last day of seeing patients.... in the early 1990’s .... it was the OT’s at WWRC and some amazing speakers I heard at WWRC (Mary Warren OT and Tony Gentry OT gentry).... that started my interest in working with patients with closed head injuries. The vision therapy activities that I had utilized to benefit children with lazy eye and children with vision related learning problems.... often help those with head injury and concussion re-gain their functional vision skills. Whether working with children or adults, I have discovered working as a team often provides the beat treatment for patients: optometrists teaming up with, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, neurology, educational psychology, etc.
I have been blessed to know and refer to skilled professionals in each of these areas!
Thank you Dr Davis and Dr Rodammer and staff at VTOC.
Thank you to Dr Mueller and Dr Covert for all the years shared at Family Vision Care
Thank you Eithna, Patti, Mark Sullivan Margaret Gelburd Fox and Nancy camp, for your dedication to helping those with functional vision problems at Insight Vision Therapy.

God has blessed me with a long and rewarding career!
And now....
time to savor the pause

I was given this broken Synoptophor in 1976. It sat in its box all these years. Thanks to the skill and persistence of Tony Bruno, it is once again operates! As I faze through the eye pieces, I am once again, the 5 year old girl with a crossed eye, using the Synoptophor in hopes to correct my lazy eye. And yes my esotropia was corrected! And now Tony has gifted me with repairing this beautiful brass Synoptophor , ready to help children with lazy eye.
As you may know as of October 8th, 2019 I am retiring from my 42 year career as an optometrist. I feel God calls me to “pause”, and listen for His direction as to how I am to use my time and energy. When Tony brought me the Synoptophor in working order I hear God’s suggestion that perhaps I am to continue to help those with functional vision needs. But first, the “pause”.... and a wonderful 2 week adventure with good friends sailing in Tahiti! Vision Tech Optometry Center, Inc. Margaret Gelburd Fox Gelburd Gregory DO

I have been blessed with 42 years working in a field I enjoy serving wonderful people. Now it is time to do other things with my time and energy. I will savor this “pause” as I wait on the Lord to show me where to put my energies next.
I am grateful to have had the privilege of working these last 2 years, with the talented doctors and fabulous staff at Vision Tech Optometry Center.
I am grateful to the many wonderful doctors and staff I had the privilege to work with while I owned and operated Family Vision Care of Charlottesville, and now at Insight Vision Therapy. I am especially thankful for: Peggy Beverly, Eithna Sullivan, Patti Hernon, Susan Mueller, Chris Covert, Patti Behrend and Nancy Camp for their many years of support and amazing skill and compassion serving our patients visual needs.
I will miss seeing the wonderful patients but I am grateful that there are young, knowledgeable, enthusiastic optometrists I can “pass the baton” to.
For general eye health and vision care: I can recommend any of the following doctors: Jennifer Davis, Mark Rodammer, Shannon Franklin, Susan Mueller, Victoria Weiss or Doug Wise.
For vision therapy needs related to head injury I recommend Blacksburg Eye with Dr’s Dovie, Mitchell and Beaudoin or Virginia Vision Therapy Center with Dr’s Carlyle, Davis and Johnson
For general vision therapy needs I recommend Blacksburg Eye (see above) or Vision Therapy Center (see above), Dr John Dresely or Dr Janet Kemmerer.
There are other skilled optometrists in the area that are also very good!

It’s been a great run! Please know that your eye health and vision care needs will be well served by any of these doctors.

Thank you all who have allowed myself, Eithna and Patti (and Mark and Margaret) to guide you in “improving your vision naturally”
Be blessed!
