Black women are invited to take part in this culturally grounded support group, developed by the Community Healing Network™, that supports healing from the impacts of the centuries-old lie of White superiority and Black inferiority.

The circle will be facilitated by Shelly Wood, LCSW, and Grace Wint, MS.

Need space to create, reflect, and heal? ✍💛 Join us for Writing for Healing: Telling Your Story on Wednesdays, April 8 and 22, from 3:30–5pm at our main office.

Women and members of the gender-expansive community are invited to join 2024 Challenge Into Change author Samman Akbarzada for this two-part writing workshop exploring creativity, reflection, and healing through story. We understand that taking the first step toward support can feel intimidating. At The Women's Initiative, intake is designed to be gentle, welcoming, and supportive. There's no pressure to have the right words or to share everything at once. We'll meet you where you are and move at a pace that feels right.

This first step is simply a way to connect you with care that fits your needs and honors your experiences. When you're ready, you can call us, walk in during wellness clinic hours, or explore what support might feel right for you.

Beginning in April, you can also find us at new community wellness clinic locations throughout Charlottesville, including Wednesdays at the Rivanna Area Q***r Center, Tuesdays at Sentara Martha Jefferson's Community Health and Outreach Center, and first and third Thursdays at The Hub at The Point Church.

You don't have to do this alone. Learn more or get started at thewomensinitiative.org/wellness-clinic

Day in the life as an intern at The Women’s Initiative
— Maeve, Communications & Marketing Intern

Today was one of those behind-the-scenes days where I got to work on a little bit of everything. I helped complete inventory to keep our promotional materials and supplies organized, responded to emails, and created social media posts to help keep our community informed about programs, resources, and upcoming events.

One thing I’ve learned during my time here is how much care goes into the details. From administrative work to communications, every piece plays a role in helping participants feel supported, informed, and connected.

Grateful to be learning more every day and to be part of a team so dedicated to making mental health care accessible and creating spaces for healing and connection. 💚

Connection shows up in big ways, and sometimes in small, unexpected ones too.

Here are a few unplanned matching moments around the office, a reminder that when you work closely, support deeply, and move with shared purpose, alignment happens naturally. At TWI, showing up for one another is part of how we show up for our community. 💜🩵💚
