Charlton Permanent Firefighters - Local 4023

Earlier today, Local 4023 Members from Groups 1&2 met at the Joslin Camp for annual ice rescue training.

Firefighters must be prepared to rescue people (and animals) who get in trouble, either in the water or on the ice, in the winter.
During our scenario, we simulate a person in distress who has “fallen through” the ice. We train on the steps, safety precautions, and the multiple ways of rescue.
Local 4023 strives to maintain our professionalism, proficiency, and expertise in our tasks, regardless of the environment! But we also like to have fun too. Check out those smiling faces! 🧊 🌊 🧊

Local 4023 is running our Home Heating Fuel Raffle, see the flyer for details. Winners will be awarded a gift certificate to their supplier of choice. Proceeds to help fund IAFF Local 4023 - Charlton MA community outreach initiatives. Drawing to be held once all tickets are sold, and will be broadcast on Facebook live.

Local 4023 extends our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters in Uxbridge, as well as the family, friends and colleauges of Officer Laporta who was killed in the line of duty yesterday. We all stand with you in support and solidarity.

IAFF Local 4023 - Charlton MA wants to recognize FF/Paramedic Zac Zarcone for his service to the Town. Zac recently left the Charlton Fire Department - MA to pursue a career with the Longmeadow (Ma) FD, we wish him the best with this move.

What a great time we had today as the families of Local 4023 gathered for our annual Christmas Party. Huge shout out to the big man, Santa himself and Mrs. Clause for the special appearance, and to the Heritage Country Club for hosting our event this year. Happy Holidays from our family to yours.

Members of Local 4023 remember our fallen brothers and sisters that perished 24 years ago during the 9/11 attacks. Brother Martin Biela and sister Lindsay Kelley helped carry out the ceremony this morning at HQ. We extend a heart felt thank you to the Charlton PD and to town administrator Golas for joining us this morning.
