Mr. Earlevon King, 72, of 285 Friendship Rd., Chatham, VA departed this life Sunday, November 2, 2025 in SOVAH Health Danville.

He was born September 7, 1953 in Pittsylvania County. He was the son of the late Norman D. and Virginia Myers King. He was married to Jacqueline King, who survives.

He was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public School System.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

He was a member of New Hope AME Church in Chatham, VA, where he served as a trustee.

In addition to his wife of the residence, he leaves to cherish his precious memories two sons; Quenstin King (Temeca) of High Point, NC and Ryan King of Greensboro, NC; a daughter, Michelle Osborne (Faron) of Danville, VA; four brothers, Norman King, Jr. (Martha) of Martinsville, VA, Leroy King (Debbie) of Volens, VA, Carl King of Greensboro, NC and Leon King (Dorthea) of Graham, NC; four sisters, Deborah Thompson and Audrey King both of Martinsville, VA, Laurie Hodnett of Danville, VA and Lisa Gladden (William) of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from Callands Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Nadine Giggetts, 72, of 384 Bennett Lane, Chatham, Virginia departed this life Friday, October 17, 2025 in Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born December 1, 1952 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late John and Ann Witcher Martin. She was married to the late Chief Apostle Willie Giggetts.

She was a member of Power of Deliverance Apostolic Church. She was also a member of the University of Worldwide Ministries.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a son, Willie Giggetts, Jr. (Sherrie) of Rocky Mount, VA; two daughters, Takeisha Giggetts of Chatham, VA and Kasheva Giggetts of Danville,VA; four brothers; John Martin of Martinsville, VA, Wilbert Martin of Danville, VA, Thomas Martin of Gretna ,VA and Michael Martin (Valerie) of PA; two sisters; Sarah Younger (Wayne) of Gretna, VA and Racheal Walker (Robert) of North Carolina; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from New True Vine Holiness Church, Chatham, VA with Bishop Theodore Jones, Eulogist. Interment will follow in New Beginning In Christ Cemetery (former Bell Grove).

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Mr. Bryson Miller, 42, of 12381 Halifax Rd., Java, VA departed this life Saturday, October 4, 2025 as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born September 29, 1983 in Pittsylvania County. He was the son of the late Raleigh Miller and Evelyn Robertson Miller, who survives.

He was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public School System. He was employed by Carolina Freightways, Inc.

In addition to his mother of the residence, he leaves to cherish his precious memories a daughter, Janayah Davis of South Boston, VA, a brother, Ricky Miller of Chatham, VA, uncles; Jerome Fitzgerald and Samuel Miller, aunts; Carolyn F. Mallory (Verneal), Gloria, Dianne, Sandra, Tammy and Debbie Fitzgerald, Pamela Nickles and Doris Womack; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October, 11, 2025 at 12 Noon from Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Antonel A. Myler, Sr., Eulogist. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA.

Mr. Lynn “Cootie” Medley, 84, of 3196 Irish Rd., Chatham, Virginia departed this life Saturday, September 27, 2025 in Sovah Health Danville.

He was born September 17, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was the son of the late Julius and Rosa Fitzgerald Medley. On June 12, 1966 he married Earlene Hodnett Medley, who survives.

He was educated in the Pittsylvania County Public School System.

He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his wife of the residence, he leaves to cherish his memories two brothers, Billy R. Medley (Gwen) of Springfield, MD and Aubrey Medley(Lauressa) of Chatham, VA and a sister, Alma Medley of Springfield, MD; uncles, aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Pastor Edward Pope, Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Cherrystone Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Chatham, VA.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

The family will receive guest at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Jean Jones, 417 Warehouse Rd. Blairs, VA from 4-7 p.m.

William Green, Jr. passed away September 17th, 2025 at the age of 87 in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Born February 17, 1938 in Chatham, Virginia to the late William Green and the late Hazel Coleman. He often told stories of a childhood filled with the love of his grandmother, cousins and his younger siblings, the late Printus Robert Green and the late Hazel Lee Turner.

Following his primary and secondary education, William enlisted in the United States Army, where he served more than 3 years. He earned Good Conduct and National Defense Service medals before being honorably discharged in 1956. Shortly after his time in the Army came to a close William moved north to New Jersey, the state he would call home for the remainder of his days. After getting settled in Jersey City, William would marry his childhood sweetheart, Goldie Scruggs on August 27th, 1959. The two remained married for 62 years until her passing in 2021.

William is survived by his four children, William Bryant, Sandra, Kenneth and Sue Cheryl. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, John Paul, Marquis, Kendra, Nikole, Kenneth, Rashad, Rashida, Maurice, Jasmine and Shayla as well as 16 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held Friday, September 26th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, September 27th from 11:00 A.M. to noon at Howerton Funeral Home in Chatham, Virginia. A graveside Homegoing service will be held Saturday, September 27th at 1:00 p.m. in Hillcrest Burial Park in Chatham, Virginia.

Miss Kameshia L. Carter, 32, of 333 Audubon Dr. Apt 22, Danville, Virginia departed this life Saturday, September 6, 2025 at her residence.

She was born March 25, 1993. She was the daughter of Charles Witcher and Natalie Echols Carter, who survives. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Betsy Younger.

She graduated from Chatham High School and was actively attending Danville Community College. She was employed by Riverside Health Care.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by three sisters; Kali Logan of Chatham, VA, Denita Echols of Danville, VA and Shenita Marr of Texas; four brothers, Lattrell Logan of Chatham, VA, Telvis Echols and Rickey Carter both of Danville, VA and Charles D. Witcher of Florida; her grandmother, Bernice Echols; two nieces and a nephew; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, September 13, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Walton, Eulogist.

Mr. Franklin Fitzgerald, 48, of 3515 Old Mine Road, Gretna, VA, passed away Sunday morning at his residence. He was married to Kristan Fitzgerald, who survives.

He was born December 13, 1976. He was the son of Frank Fitzgerald and JoAnn McLaughlin.

He was a member of New Hope AME Church and was employed by Pittsylvania School System.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Makayla Fitzgerald of Gastonia, NC; three brothers, Henri Fitzgerald (Valentine) of Winston Salem, NC, Tron McLaughlin of Richmond, VA and Mont McLaughlin of Danville, VA; three sisters, Samantha Fitzgerald of Norfolk, VA, LaToya McLaughlin of Danville, VA and Tiffany McLaughlin of Windsor Mill, MD; his father-in-law, Joe Fuller; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Mr. Fitzgerald will be Friday, September 5, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Howerton Funeral Home, with Reverend Prenceanna Craft, Eulogist. Interment will follow in Greater Triumph Church Cemetery.

She was born December 15, 1942 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Elijah and Chessie Waller Whitehead. She was married to Hosea Jones, who predeceased her.

She was the last of her generation.

She was a member of Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories, a son, Darrell Jones of Chatham, VA and a daughter, Sherita Jones of Chatham, VA; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step sisters, Elna Witcher of Chatham, VA and Betty J. Walker (Bobby) of Blairs, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was born August 10, 1965 in Pittsylvania County. She was the daughter of the late OT and Mable Fitzgerald Guy.

She was a former member of Shockoe Baptist Church and attended Pittsylvania County Public Schools.

Survivors include a son, Ventora L. Guy, of Danville, VA; a daughter, JaMiya R. Guy, of Java, VA; a brother, Corey Guy ( Melanie), of Florida; four sisters, Etta Jones (Jarvis), Renee Guy Johnson (Leon), Rhonda Gale Guy, and Myra Guy (Thomas Whitehead), all of Georgia; two grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Edith Moore, 94, of Atlantic City, New Jersey departed this life Wednesday, June, 25, 2025 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

She was born March 29, 1931 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Alice Younger. She was married to Harry Moore, who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Charlie, Alphonso, Robert and Curtis Younger.

She was a devoted member of Greater Holy Trinity Baptist Church in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was a member of the church choir and Usher Board.

She leaves to cherish her memories; four daughters, Deborah Glass (David), Donna Farmer (Brian Simpson), Victoria Moore, and Sandra Moore; four grandchildren, Tanekia Farmer, Rashidah Derry, Kevin Washington and Devin Washington; a great-granddaughter, Mikaylah Derry; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 12:00 noon from Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Antonio Logan, Presiding and Rev. Alfred Younger, Eulogist.

She was born February 27, 1935 in Pittsylvania County. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Lois Whitehead Logan. She was married to Raleigh Thompson Jr., who survives.

She was a former member of Shockoe Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her husband of the residence, she leaves to cherish her memories four daughters; Jo Ann Tyson of Garner, NC, Valerie Manley of Cary, NC, Carrol Rouse (Michael) of Winterville, NC and Delinda Duckett (Jean Paul) of Triangle, VA; five grandchildren; Tyler Rouse, Garrett Manley, Torrey Rouse, Kameron Manley, and Danielle Tyson; a brother, Johnnie Logan; five sisters, Faye Turner, Maynell Kelly, Elner Guy, Mary Logan and Catherine Stone (Carl); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
