Congratulations are in order for Mr. Brady Turner🎉

Yesterday, Mr. Turner was awarded the Emerging Leader Award from the University of West Alabama’s Alumni Association! Each year, UWA tasks the College of Nursing with nominating an outstanding alumnus to represent them as an Emerging Leader. Mr. Turner was nominated for his commitment to our community and his patients. We are extremely proud of Brady and are lucky to have him on the CPC team!

This week we lost a very kind, hard-working and joyous member of our work family. Our hearts are truly broken from the loss of our sweet Melissa. January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month! Prevent cervical cancer with the right test the right time. At Chatom Primary Care, we offer both screening tests, the Pap test and HPV test, that can help detect cervical cancer early. Here are some facts that let you know which test option might be best for you:

• Screening for cervical cancer with a Pap test should start at age 21.
• If Pap test results are normal, you can have your next one in three years.
• At age 30, you can have a Pap test completed every three years, or you can have the Pap and HPV tests every five years.
• For most ladies at age 65, you no longer need to be screened if you've had normal test results for many years.
• When to stop screening should be discussed with your doctor.

Our clinic offers both test options to help our patients prevent cervical cancer or discover it at an early stage. With a female physician, who focuses on women's health, and female nurse practitioners, they make the process easy and comfortable. We even offer the newest type of speculum for comfort.
