Here’s a little something to consider for your : If you’ve ever disappointed by someone it may actually be your own fault… Because you expected too much from them in the first place. 🤔

Isn’t that a kick in the pants?

This isn’t something I came up with… it’s a thought that’s been around a long time. Certainly something to consider… and it just might ease the burden of expecting too much from others and being let down.

Go with this instead:

Be kind. 💕

Be even kinder than necessary. 💗

And remember that everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about.

Does something need pruned in your life? What is no longer serving you? Is there one area in your life that is overshadowing another and needs cut back? 🧐

These are great questions to explore, because the boundaries and changes that might develop may enhance your life in a way that has multiple positive ripple effects!

I was inspired by a Facebook post my friend Bob Grove wrote recently… I saw it the day after I recorded my last video, “What do you need to quit?” Here’s what Bob had to say:

“Have you ever visited a vineyard? There is constant attention given to the condition of each vine. The gardener takes particular care of each vine and its branches. Because he is interested in producing quality grapes, he prunes the wild shoots that produce leaves and no fruit. God is the Gardener of your life. He trims the troublesome shoots so that you will be productive and fruitful for Him. Often, pruning looks and feels painful, merciless and wasteful. But with God there is no random cutting. He trims away only what is harmful and bad for you. Blessed trimming today!”

These are words to live by! Seeking God first, allowing Him to prune the garden of our lives, will help us grow and flourish in ways beyond our expectations! 🤩

Hello friends… here’s your for :

Communication isn’t what counts… Comprehension is!

Very few people listen. I mean really and truly listen.
How many times have you been talking with someone only to have the other person start looking at their phone? 🤨

Or how often have you had the feeling that the other person is just waiting for you to pause what you’re saying so they can jump in and say what’s already filling their mind? 😝

We’ve all had it done to us… and if we’re going to be honest here, we’ve all done it too. 😔

Learning to truly listen is an art. And it’s worth learning. Any of us CAN start to be more intentional in each and every communication. I’ve even built a successful practice because of it. People need to be heard. YOU deserve to be heard.

Comprehension and the full understanding that comes from it is the best gift we can give to the people in our lives. 💝

So choose to be the best listener your friends know… you might be surprised at the blessings that will flow back in return! 💕

seems a great day to remind ourselves to be … To embrace the to be our true and authentic selves as we were created to be. As the author Emily Barnes says,

“Your free time is precious, spend it with the people you love best.”

I would also add… Spend it with the people who also truly love you back. 💕

So my friends ~ who you let into your circle. Prune your life of those who silence you, speak up when the Spirit moves you, and enjoy the blessing of being true to yourself. 🙌

Here’s a nugget of that might brighten your day… or someone else’s!

“Be kinder than necessary, for everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. ”

I just love that quote. Kindness is truly powerful… Any of us can be the highlight of someone’s day by just a word or gesture. 💕

Now go add the sparkle to someone’s day! 🤩

Here’s a question or two for : Is there something you need to ? Perhaps an activity (or relationship) in your life that isn’t serving you any longer? Or maybe one area of your life has been encroaching and crowding out another?

Your life is truly like a garden, with many interconnecting aspects that each require attention for you to grow and flourish. With this in mind, in today’s video I want to help you take a look at your life with a fresh, new .

What needs pruned back?

What do you need to “pull out” and quit because it doesn’t serve you anymore?

And in other, more exciting news… What new things are you ready to plant into the garden of your life?

Just as a garden is never finished, your life isn’t finished until it’s over. If you keep growing and planting and pruning… learning to enjoy the process each and every day… you just might find an overarching abundance you may have never thought possible!

The month of May can get crazy… So let’s take time for :

Take a deep breath, and relax this month as much as possible.😌

Remember that you don’t have to have it all figured out. And you certainly cannot do it all. It’s ok to let go a little.

Maybe let go a lot.

It’s also ok to give up trying to be all things for all people… or trying to look like you have it all together.

It’s especially ok to feel a little sad over the kids finishing yet another year of school. They’re growing up so fast. Too fast, it can seem.

And if you’re one of the moms or dads who has a child graduating from high school or college this year, your emotions are probably running especially high.

Things in your life may be changing faster than you think you can keep up with.

Life never stays the same.

But that’s as it should be. The best things in your life might be just around the corner.

In the meantime, right now, take time to breathe. Don’t miss out on enjoying the blessings and the beauty in the small moments of .

Let go and let God. You can trust Him to lead. He’s got you. 💗

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life… But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Matthew 6:25 & 33

Are you confident in your life’s purpose and direction? Or do you feel like a small, unstable boat on turbulent and stormy seas?

isn’t tidy.

That may sound like the bad news… But it really isn’t.

When challenging or bad things happen… things that stretch us and make us uncomfortable or even miserable… that’s when we have the opportunity to build the muscle of fortitude and perseverance.
And if you actually EXPECT life to be untidy, you might not be as surprised and upset when it lives up to that expectation.

This week, try approaching life with an attitude of curiosity. Maybe even ask a couple questions in the middle of the mayhem…

“What can I learn from this?”

“How can I grow and be a better person because of this?”

“What is God‘s greater purpose?”

Then you can quit struggling against the current and trust in His sovereignty to bring beauty out of whatever comes your way.

Beauty out of ashes.

It’s actually one of His promises. One of the best ones if you ask me.

My friend, may your week be filled with divine appointments and miraculous happenings… Things you can’t explain except to know that a great Captain steers your ship. 💕

Isaiah 61:3 “…to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.”

8 FIGHTS WORTH PICKING WITH YOUR KIDS:

Saw this yesterday and found it immensely validating, especially considering all the effort we’ve put into these “fights” with our almost 13 year old Fiona.

Parenting is hard. Parents have to choose their battles. seems a great day to talk about the 8 fights worth picking with your kids:

The Reading Fight:
Make your kids read. Because reading is tied to everything from cognitive development to the ability to focus. Make your kids read now.

The Outside Fight:
Make your kids go outside. The natural world teaches us things. Plus, outside there's sunshine, fresh air, and exercise waiting for them. Most importantly, nature is full of things in short supply in our world: Discovery, wonder, peace, joy.

The Work Fight:
Make your kids work. I’m saddened by how many parents don’t require their kids to lift a finger at home. There are priceless life principles you can only learn with a mop in your hand. Let sweat be their teacher.

The Meal Fight:
Make your kids eat as a family. Our lives are a blur of incessant activity. Meals together are a physical pause to recover a truth so easily sacrificed at the altar of busyness. Nothing's more important than family.

The Boredom Fight:
Make your kids live with boredom. Don't show a DVD on each car ride. Kids need unscheduled time. And, odd as it sounds, boredom is a skill. It's hard as a parent to deal with the assault of boredom complaints. But if you give in and fill up their time with external stimuli, you'll raise an activity addict. Make them learn how to be.

The "Me First" Fight:
Make your kids go last. Not every time for everything. But enough to remember that the world doesn't revolve around them. Take the smallest piece. Give up the remote. Do someone else's chores. Get their least favorite choice. They won't like it, but they need it.

The Awkward Conversation Fight:
Make your kids have uncomfortable conversations with you. S*x, dating, body image, values...Your kids will roll their eyes and resist. You will stumble and stutter. They need and want your perspective, lessons learned, and wisdom.

The Limitation Fight:
Learning to live within limits is a valuable life skill. In fact, many adult problems arise from an inability to accept them. Screen time limits, dietary limits, activity limits, and schedule limits are all good.

As a parent, you have to pick your battles. Those battles may not easy, but your kids are definitely worth the fight.

Do you have a tribe like this? It’s been said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. What a great reminder to pick carefully!

It’s also been said that there are two kinds of people around us: They might be our “Balcony People,” meaning those who cheer us on, believe in us and our goals and our dreams and who make us feel better about ourselves when we spend time with them. These people inspire and energize us! 🤩

OR…

The people around us might be “Basement People.” You’ll recognize them by how they drain your energy. These people tear you down, belittle your thoughts, ideas, and never seem to truly understand you. When you come away from them you often feel worse about yourself. 😔

Want to know one of the secrets to a great life?

Boundaries.

It’s the ability to draw the line at who we let into our lives, and especially into our inner circle.

Life is short my friends… spend it with those you love best and who bring out the best in you! 💗
