Meet Ryker—a 5-year-old whose smile and positive spirit are bigger than any challenge he’s faced. Through advanced testing at Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, Dr. Morrical was able to diagnose Ryker with a congenital heart defect (CHD) when his mother was just 15 weeks pregnant. Ryker has undergone multiple surgeries and continues to receive regular checkups from Dr. Morrical and his team. Early diagnosis and treatment like this help children with CHD go on to live healthy, full lives into adulthood.

Through it all, Ryker radiates positivity and has a love for everyone he meets. Our team is honored to be part of his journey and looks forward to watching him thrive and reach new milestones!

We're proud to announce that, for the eighth year straight, Children’s Hospital at Erlanger has received a Level I trauma redesignation for Pediatric Trauma with the State of Alabama. We've provided pediatric trauma care in the region for nearly 50 years and have had a designated pediatric trauma center in Alabama since 2018.

Throughout the redesignation process, surveyors praised Children’s Hospital at Erlanger care for pediatric trauma patients, highlighting our Pink Shirt and ECMO programs and our exceptional emergency and PICU staff.

Learn more about what this redesignation means for our Alabama patients, and what pediatric trauma care looks like throughout the health system.

We've had so many delightful visitors this holiday season! Courier Cubs created plushies in real-time, CHA Ballet performers visited with books, and friends from local Walmart stores brought a train of toy donations for our Children’s Holiday Shoppe. Thanks for making the holidays here a little brighter. 💡

Button and lithium coin batteries are used in watches, story books, light-up toys, household items, and other small electronics. These batteries are a choking hazard, but if ingested, these tiny batteries can lead to chemical burns and tissue damage within two hours, which can be debilitating or even fatal.
