Hospice of Chattanooga

Hospice of Chattanooga Dedicated to the belief that no one should reach the end of life alone, afraid or in pain, and that

Hospice of Chattanooga began in 1981 as an all-volunteer agency. Today, it is the community's oldest, largest, not-for-profit, United Way-supported hospice. We are specialists in end-of-life care, with full-time physicians on staff certified in palliative medicine to manage pain and symptoms. Medicare covers the full cost of hospice care for terminally ill individuals who choose the hospice benefit and agree to stop seeking curative treatments. Most private insurance plans also cover hospice care and reimbursements vary by plan. As a not-for-profit hospice provider, Hospice of Chattanooga never turns away a terminally-ill individual because of an inability to pay for our services. We rely on support from the community and donations made to The Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation subsidize our non-reimbursed care. We provide quality end of life care to 18 counties in Tennessee and North Georgia. In Tennessee, we serve Hamilton, Bradley, Polk, McMinn, Meigs, Rhea, Bledsoe, Sequatchie, Grundy, and Marion counties. In Georgia serving Catoosa, Whifield, Murray, Gordon, Floyd, Chattooga, Walker, and Dade counties. We at Hospice of Chattanooga will take the time to listen, honor your choices, and walk with you through life's journey.

Behind every moment of compassionate care is a team working together with heart.

On Colleague Appreciation Day, we celebrate the colleagues who lift each other up, step in when help is needed, and bring encouragement to even the busiest days.

Hospice care is never a solo effort. It takes nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, volunteers, and support colleagues coming together to serve patients and families with excellence.

Today we say thank you for the teamwork, kindness, and dedication that make our mission possible.

Making a Difference Every Day! Women’s History Month gives us the opportunity to celebrate those who lead quietly but powerfully through service.

This week we honor Bri, whose dedication helps families feel supported, heard, and cared for during life’s most meaningful moments. Her compassion strengthens not only our patients but our entire team.

Thank you for being such an important part of what we do.

Behind every hospice journey is a compassionate advocate helping families navigate some of life’s hardest moments.

During Social Work Month, we recognize the heart and dedication of our social workers who uplift families, defend dignity, and transform difficult seasons into moments of connection and support.

From coordinating resources and providing emotional guidance to advocating for patient wishes, their work ensures no family walks this path alone.

Thank you for living out this year’s theme: Social Workers: Uplift. Defend. Transform.

This Women’s History Month, we celebrate the incredible women who lead with compassion, strength, and purpose every day.

From nurses and aides to social workers, chaplains, and administrative leaders, women play a vital role in shaping the future of hospice care. Their dedication helps families find comfort, dignity, and peace during life’s most meaningful moments.

This year’s theme, Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future, reminds us that lasting change often begins with a caring heart and a willingness to serve others.

Thank you to the women who make our mission possible.

Volunteer Coordinators Lauren and Jessica had a great time at the Meet the Firms event at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale!

It was such a pleasure connecting with students and sharing the heart behind hospice care, along with the many meaningful volunteer opportunities available throughout the communities we serve. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to learn, ask questions, and help us spread the word.

Today we were given the honor of hearing a beautiful testimony from the family of one of our patients, Mr. Cribbs.

His daughter, Patricia, recently shared with us her father’s final wish. Above all else, he longed to have all of his children together with him in church one last time. Family members traveled from different states and across many miles to make that wish come true.

Together, they gathered for worship at Cagle Community Church alongside Pastor Darrell Nance, where Mr. Cribbs had faithfully attended for many years. Patricia shared that no matter the circumstance, her father remained devoted to the Lord and to being present in church.

Today, we received word that Mr. Cribbs peacefully passed away.

His family wanted this moment shared as a testimony to the faithfulness of God and the blessing of being together in faith and love. What a gift it is to know his final wish was fulfilled, surrounded by the people he loved most and in the place that meant so much to him.

Our Hospice of Chattanooga team is honored to walk alongside families during moments like these and to witness the beauty of faith, family, and fulfilled promises.

Please keep the Cribbs family in your thoughts and prayers as they cherish this precious memory together.

Connection starts with showing up!

Our Volunteer Coordinators, Lauren and Jessica, had such a great time at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga sharing about Hospice of Chattanooga. From meaningful conversations with students to connecting with community members interested in serving, it was a day full of purpose.

We love getting out into the community, building relationships, and creating opportunities for others to make a difference. Because hospice care is not just what we do. It is who we are.
