Around 3 a.m. in Aurora, Illinois, a customer at a gas station heard unusual cries coming from behind an outdoor ice machine and called the Aurora Police Department for help.
When officers arrived, they discovered a small kitten trapped behind the heavy machine, unable to get out. To reach him, they first had to remove all the ice inside the freezer.
Working quickly, the officers hauled over 1,000 pounds of ice onto the parking lot so they could move the machine away from the wall.
Once it was shifted, an officer carefully reached behind the unit and pulled the frightened kitten to safety.
The kitten, later named Cadence, was taken to Aurora Animal Care & Control, where he received care and vaccinations. Now safe and recovering, heβs waiting for a loving forever home.
