AIM Center, Inc.

AIM Center, Inc. We are non-medical and non-clinical, however, we work in concert with other professionals to provide comprehensive mental health services.

The AIM Center clubhouse provides psychosocial rehabilitation services to create hope, community and social change to enrich and celebrate the lives of people living with serious mental illness. AIM Center is a nonprofit mental health program offering employment, education, housing, socialization, and wellness opportunities for adults living with serious mental illness. Our focus is recovery! What

makes us unique to the region? Utilizing a psychosocial rehabilitation model known as the "Clubhouse program," the AIM Center allows Clubhouse members to develop relationships and create an individual recovery plan, whilst working side by side with other program participants and staff. Since 1989, we have helped over 3,000 adults in the Chattanooga community lead a full and meaningful life, while living with serious mental illness. Each day 75 to 100 participants, called Clubhouse members, come to the AIM Center to engage in recovery activities. By working together with staff and other members, individuals begin to feel needed and accepted, discover their strengths and abilities, and develop relationships based on mutual respect and shared contributions. AIM Center members have equal voices in all facets of the Clubhouse ‘s operations including planning leisure activities, hiring staff, making decisions about policies and procedures, and having input into the long-range planning of the Clubhouse. Services provided outside the Clubhouse model promote community integration, which includes transitional and supported employment, supported education, supported housing, and leisure activities. The program is open to persons with a diagnosed psychiatric disorder who are 18 years of age or older. Membership to AIM Center is without time limits, so individuals may return to AIM Center whenever they need or want additional support.

We hope you’ve been enjoying the beautiful weather we’ve had over the past week, because Dominique definitely has! 🌤

Last week, she took the wonderful opportunity to gather her art supplies and set up outside, working on some of her current pieces while listening to some music, enjoying the sunshine, and getting some fresh air.

We’re lucky to have so many talented artists in our Clubhouse, and Dominique is certainly one of them. If you haven’t had a chance to get out and enjoy this spring weather yet, let this be your sign! 🧡

We are elated to share that we were graciously awarded a generous grant of $28,500 from our friends at CommonSpirit - Memorial Foundation to help expand our Connected Care Program.

These funds will allow us to continue bridging gaps in health care for both our members and individuals in the community living with serious mental illness. Through strategic partnerships with organizations like River Valley Health and The Bethlehem Center, our Connected Care Program helps individuals navigate complex medical systems and access the care they need. This funding is even going to allow us to pilot a first ever prescription support program for certain individuals who may need assistance with psychiatric medications! This further strengthens our commitment to whole-person care and support.

CommonSpirit Memorial Hospital has awarded nearly $220,000 in Community Health Improvement Grants to local nonprofit organizations working to improve access to care, mental and behavioral health resources, transportation, food security, and health education across the region. We are honored to be part of this investment in our community and grateful for the opportunity to expand our impact even further. 🧡

We’re excited to share this FREE sensory-friendly Open Chord performance in collaboration with the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera coming up on Saturday, April 18th at the Downtown Chattanooga Public Library! 🎵

The CSO welcomes everyone to their performances, but they know that some patrons hesitate to attend a live concert without knowing how they might react. Open Chord is CSO's sensory-friendly program designed to use the power of music to foster connection, understanding, and emotional well-being. It focuses on creating supportive musical experiences that are sensitive to the unique needs of individuals, including those with disabilities or those reintegrating into society. The program aims to meet people where they are, offering them a space to engage with live music in a way that feels both accessible and empowering.

What to Expect:
This concert is designed for patrons 12 and up. Our goal is to have a listening concert experience. The concert will have a short 10-minute intermission where patrons are invited to engage with one another and then return to their seats.

Seating will be open, quiet spaces will be available, and headphones and manipulatives will be on hand. Patrons are welcome to bring their own.

We are grateful for partners who are committed to making the arts welcoming for everyone and hope you will consider attending!

While the event is free, ticket reservations are appreciated and you can submit yours by clicking here ➡ https://chattanoogasymphony.org/events/sensory-friendly-ages-12-2026-04-18-200-pm/

AIM Center is excited to welcome our new Chief Housing Officer, Rebecca Mathews!

Rebecca joins us from the CHATT Foundation, where she served as Director of the Maclellan Shelter for Families. In that role, she heard powerful stories of loss, addiction, trauma, and survival and witnessed resilience bloom in even the hardest places.

She shares, “I’m excited to be part of AIM Center because I’m deeply committed to breaking down barriers and expanding access to basic needs across our community. I believe, at my core, that housing is a human right.”

Rebecca holds a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (Go Vols!) and is a trauma-informed certified coach.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, often at the park, a sporting event, or simply enjoying time together. Fun fact: she plays on an adult kickball team and has a very spoiled and adorable French bulldog named Jo Jo.

We are thrilled to have Rebecca on the team! She has already jumped right into our mission, and we could not be more grateful! 🧡
