AIM Center, Inc.

AIM Center, Inc. We are non-medical and non-clinical, however, we work in concert with other professionals to provide comprehensive mental health services.

The AIM Center clubhouse provides psychosocial rehabilitation services to create hope, community and social change to enrich and celebrate the lives of people living with serious mental illness. AIM Center is a nonprofit mental health program offering employment, education, housing, socialization, and wellness opportunities for adults living with serious mental illness. Our focus is recovery! What makes us unique to the region? Utilizing a psychosocial rehabilitation model known as the "Clubhouse program," the AIM Center allows Clubhouse members to develop relationships and create an individual recovery plan, whilst working side by side with other program participants and staff. Since 1989, we have helped over 3,000 adults in the Chattanooga community lead a full and meaningful life, while living with serious mental illness. Each day 75 to 100 participants, called Clubhouse members, come to the AIM Center to engage in recovery activities. By working together with staff and other members, individuals begin to feel needed and accepted, discover their strengths and abilities, and develop relationships based on mutual respect and shared contributions. AIM Center members have equal voices in all facets of the Clubhouse ‘s operations including planning leisure activities, hiring staff, making decisions about policies and procedures, and having input into the long-range planning of the Clubhouse. Services provided outside the Clubhouse model promote community integration, which includes transitional and supported employment, supported education, supported housing, and leisure activities. The program is open to persons with a diagnosed psychiatric disorder who are 18 years of age or older. Membership to AIM Center is without time limits, so individuals may return to AIM Center whenever they need or want additional support.

Talk about an impactful Day on the Hill!

We are incredibly grateful to Tennessee Association of Mental Health Organizations - TAMHO for the opportunity to participate in Advocacy Day on the Hill in Nashville yesterday. During our visit to the Capitol, AIM Center members and staff met with legislators from our districts to highlight the critical role our Clubhouse plays in mental health recovery for our community.

We want to extend a special thank you to all of the Representatives and Senators who took time from their busy schedules to meet with us, listen to personal stories of impact, and learn more about the essential services and sense of community that AIM Center provides.

Collaboration is at the heart of the Clubhouse model, with members and staff working side by side both within our Clubhouse and beyond. Engaging directly with legislators is no exception, and we are proud to have been part of such an important day of advocacy.

In honor of Women's History Month, AIM Center is celebrating the voices, experiences, and contributions of women within our community. 🧡

Women’s history is rich, impactful, and deeply personal. This month, we’re inviting members of our community to share what Women’s History Month means to them. For some, that may look like reflecting on personal experiences. For others, it may mean highlighting women who have inspired them or sharing stories of women whose impact deserves to be recognized and celebrated.

When people feel comfortable sharing their stories and perspectives, it helps build a stronger, more connected community where recovery and wellness are possible for everyone. Throughout March, we’ll be sharing reflections and stories from voices within our Clubhouse as we celebrate women and their lasting contributions.

As Clubhouse Movement Celebration Week comes to a close, we’ve spent some meaningful time together as a community reflecting on what Clubhouse means to all of us.

Some have shared that it is a safe space where they can truly be themselves and focus on their recovery. Others have talked about the meaningful friendships they have built here that mean so much to them. Many members also noted that Clubhouse is a place where they can continue working toward and achieving their goals.

While everyone has their own reasons for loving this place and showing up every day, one thing we can all agree on is how much we appreciate this space and how grateful we are for Clubhouse.

Thank you to everyone who participated this week!

When Mary is in the kitchen, you know the meal is going to be good. 😋

Mary is very active in our Clubhouse community and loves helping others, but more often than not, you’ll find her in the kitchen making sure her people are well fed and eating good. Today she was our chef of the day and whipped up arroz con pollo with a creamy corn salad. One of our staff members made the most delicious flan to top it all off for anyone with a sweet tooth!

A great way to end an even greater week at the Clubhouse, for sure! 🍽️

We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Clubhouse Movement Celebration Week is a wonderful chance for all of us to take time to reflect on what this community means to us.

Here is what the Clubhouse means to some of our members:

Everyone has their own reason for joining this space or supporting it. What does the Clubhouse mean to you? Share your thoughts in the comments below and join the conversation with our community. 🧡

Ten years ago today, Bill walked through the doors of AIM Center ready to change his life. 🧡

He jumped into the Clubhouse community, set big goals, and got to work. Since then, he has built a nearly nine-year career at Food City, earned his Business Administration diploma, served in leadership roles, hosted several art exhibits with HART Gallery TN, advocated for mental health recovery at the TN State Capitol, and stays active in his recovery through Celebrate Recovery and the Clubhouse community.

“Once someone gets a diagnosis, life isn’t over,” Bill says. “You just have to adapt and learn how to live your life with it.”

Bill’s story is a powerful example of what’s possible through the Clubhouse model and community support. Read his full 10-year anniversary story on our website by clicking here ➡ https://bit.ly/MeetBill_

We’re so proud to celebrate one of our Board Members, Ivan Brown, on his recent induction into the Chattanooga Business Elite Hall of Fame! 👏

When asked what this honor means to him, Ivan shared:

“This honor reminds me that leadership is not about titles, but about the responsibility to mentor, to serve, to give back, to educate, and to open doors for the next generation of entrepreneurs and leaders in Chattanooga.”

Ivan has served on the AIM Center Board for just over a year and continues to lead with heart, service, and a deep belief that recovery is possible. We’re grateful for the way he pours into our mission and our members.

If you know anything about AIM Center, you know that many of our members find healing through art and are incredibly talented. 🎨

Our Art Studio is a vibrant part of our Business Unit, providing a calm, quiet, and serene space where members can express themselves through a variety of mediums and creative projects. Members not only find healing here, but they also help bring the Clubhouse to life. The studio is actively involved in designing decor for socials, creating pieces featured in exhibits and galleries around Chattanooga, and fun fact, every piece of artwork displayed throughout the Clubhouse was created by our member artists in the Art Studio.

Recently, members who spend time in the studio shared what art and creating mean to them, and their reflections are powerful.

Cheyenne doesn’t just embody the heart of AIM Center. She keeps it in check.

This month, she celebrates 11 years as a member, and if there is one thing we know, it is that Cheyenne is going to say exactly what she thinks and stand by it. She cares deeply about this community and is not shy about protecting what makes it special. From checking in on members during the work-ordered day to serving on AIM Center’s Board of Directors from 2018 to 2019, Cheyenne has seen this organization grow and evolve, and she takes that history seriously.

Now she is working toward becoming a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist, continuing her commitment to empowering others through lived experience and peer support. Cheyenne believes mental health should not be shushed and that people should not have to be in crisis to receive care. Her full story reflects confidence, advocacy, and 11 years of growth within our Clubhouse community, and it's one you'll definitely want to check out.
