Eileen M. (Wilcox) Flynn
September 30, 1944 – October 26, 2025

Eileen M. (Wilcox) Flynn, 81, a longtime resident of North Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Residence at Freeman Lake, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Francis “Steve” Flynn, with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family.

Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on September 30, 1944, Eileen was the daughter of the late Edward and Ruth (Hill) Wilcox. She was raised in Somerville and Arlington and graduated from St. Clement School before earning her nursing degree from the Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing.

In 1971, Eileen and Steve settled in North Chelmsford, where they raised their family and became active members of the community. Eileen devoted her life to caring for others—first as an emergency nurse, then as a school nurse in the Tyngsborough School System, where she served for more than 30 years. Her compassion, warmth, and professionalism left a lasting impression on students, colleagues, and families alike.

The heart of her family, Eileen created a home filled with love, tradition, and laughter. Every holiday and gathering reflected her thoughtfulness and joy in bringing people together. She and Steve shared a love of travel, adventure, and the simple pleasure of spending time with family and friends.

Eileen’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her children Steven Flynn and his wife Christina of Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, Robert Flynn and his wife Nicole of Groton, and Karen (Flynn) Balestrieri and her husband Glen of Hollis, NH. She was a devoted grandmother to Regan, Taylor, Abigail, Alexandra, Robert Jr., Shaun, and Jack Flynn, and Henry and Isabella Balestrieri—each of whom she adored and supported with endless love.

She also leaves behind her sister, Barbara Keefe of Harwich; many beloved nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends who enriched her life with laughter and companionship.

During Eileen’s final year at the Residence at Freeman Lake, she was lovingly cared for by a team of devoted staff whose empathy, compassion, and unwavering dedication brought her peace and joy. They treated her not just as a resident, but as someone deeply loved — surrounding her with kindness, laughter, and care that her family will forever be grateful for.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Nancy Dowling, her brother-in-law John Keefe, and her sisters-and brothers-in-law Mary and Joe Findlen, and Lynn and Jack Flynn.

Steve Simone, beloved son, brother, partner, uncle, and friend, passed away after a brief illness at the age of 56. Born at Lowell General Hospital on January 7, 1969, Steve grew up in Chelmsford before making his home in Lowell—the city where his story both began and ultimately ended. Throughout his life, he remained deeply connected to the communities he loved, bringing laughter, warmth, and light to every life he touched.

He graduated from Chelmsford High School in 1987. From there, he went on to study hotel business management, knowing from early on that he wanted to bring joy and hospitality to people’s lives.

Steve is survived by his partner, Jamie Bishop, the love of his life; his proud and loving father, Joseph Simone; and his devoted sisters, Cynthia Simone and Christine Simone. He was a much-loved uncle to Shannon Forkus (and her husband, Steve Nemec, and their children, Gemma and Roen), Brittany White (and her husband, Scott White, and their daughter, Lucy White), Sophia Bost, and Paul Forkus. He was also the cherished son of the late Judith Simone, forever the apple of her eye. Steve is also survived by countless lifelong friends and extended family, whose bonds with him stood the test of time and whose lives were enriched by his unwavering loyalty and warmth.

Though little Lucy White and Gemma Nemec never had the chance to meet their Uncle Steve, they will undoubtedly come to know him through the many stories and memories cherished by their family.

Steve was known for his boundless generosity, big heart, and the hearty laugh that could light up any room. He had a remarkable ability to make every person feel loved and cherished, always going the extra mile in small and meaningful ways. Many remember him as the life of every gathering - someone who made friends feel like family and family feel fiercely loved. His gift for hosting shone through in his career, where he managed restaurants and catered special events, ensuring every guest felt special. Steve managed Cobblestones and, later, Moonstones—places where he did what he did best: making people feel like they belonged and instilling happiness in everyone around him. He later transitioned into a role as Operations Manager at Marathon Staffing yet still kept his hand in the catering business.

Steve’s passion for antiques was exceptional. As the proud owner of The Mad Hatter, his eye for beauty, history, and craftsmanship was on full display. His home, lovingly decorated with unique finds and treasures, was a true reflection of his creative spirit and appreciation for the little things that make life beautiful.

Steve adored his great uncle Hollis Murphy, a man who made the history books for his service to his country. Steve’s big presence and jovial nature were very much like the man he so admired. Hollis passed many years ago, but Steve carried on that joyful spirit and warmth throughout his own life. He never lost his childlike charm or mischievous nature—the glint in his eye was a telltale sign that he was planning his next little act of mischief. Those who knew Steve best often saw flashes of Hollis’s character in the kindness and humor Steve brought to every room.

Steve loved his people and cherished his treasures. Even something as simple as a favorite corduroy—kept close for years, loved until it was faded and torn—was a testament to his unwavering loyalty and capacity to love deeply. Through this enduring affection, Steve taught us the beauty of loving fully and for a lifetime. Even his cherished possessions seem to share in the ache in our hearts with Steve’s passing.

A void will be felt with Steve’s passing, one that can never truly be filled. His warmth, kindness, and thoughtful gestures left a lasting mark on everyone he met. The lessons and love he inherited from his great uncle were evident not just in the way he lived but in the many lives he touched. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were lucky enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 3 pm to 6 pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Service and interment will be held privately.
