Medical Healthcare Specialists is an internal medicine practice providing primary care services to Chelmsford, Lowell and the greater Merrimack Valley region. Open for greater than 30 years, Medical Healthcare Specialists provides a variety of services including preventive exams, chronic illness management, episodic/acute care, adult vaccinations, certain in-office procedures and home visits. Owned by Dr. Richard DeAmicis, who has also been in practice for greater than 30 years, he is associated with two nurse practitioners: Dr. Miguel Peixoto DNP, NP-C and Norah Silvester NP-C. March is National Kidney Month! Your kidneys are some of the most important organs you have and they perform a lot of important functions. Some quick and easy tips to protect your kidneys: Stay active. Eat a low salt diet. Watch your blood pressure. Limit the amount of anti-inflammatories (Aleve, Motrin, Advil, ibuprofen, naproxen...) you take and most of all drink plenty of water. Ask one of our clinicians today how you can promote good kidney health!

We at Medical Healthcare Specialists are closely monitoring the evolving and highly fluid situation involving the Covid-19 virus that has affected all of us so closely. We encourage all our patients to follow the recommendations posted by the CDC, Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and local boards of health. In order to protect our most vulnerable patients and our staff, we have opted to operate with a reduced schedule. Rest assured we are still here and available to all our patients in these trying times. Please call us with any health care need. Patients will be seen on an as needed basis. Starting next week we will operate half days in the office. We are also implementing a robust telemedicine system to further allow us to bring the most dynamic and high quality care all of you are expecting and used to without absolutely needing to be in the office. More info on this will be posted in the coming days. We wish all of you the best in these uncertain times.
