Nuestra cosecha de invierno continúa mientras celebramos nuestro histórico primer año de cultivo durante todo el año en GreenRoots.

El próximo miércoles, continuaremos con nuestra cosecha y distribución semanal de vegetales frescos y cultivados localmente. Los cultivos actuales incluyen lechuga, acelga, rábano, zanahorias, col rizada y remolacha, todos cultivados aquí mismo para nuestra comunidad. ¡Mantente al tanto para más novedades sobre un nuevo mural que pronto traerá aun más vida y color al espacio de la Freight Farm!

Our winter harvest continues as we celebrate our historic first year-round growing season at GreenRoots.

Next Wednesday, we’ll continue our weekly harvest and distribution of fresh, locally grown veggies. Current crops include lettuce, swiss chard, radish, carrots, kale, and beets, all grown right here for our community. Stay tuned for updates on a new mural that will soon bring even more life and color to the Freight Farm space!

❄️ Este invierno, el equipo de GreenRoots se tomó un merecido descanso con una salida de personal a Lucky Strike en Assembly Row. El equipo y los jóvenes líderes de ECO se reunieron para pasar unas horas jugando al boliche y a juegos de arcade, y aprovecharon el tiempo para conectar fuera de nuestro trabajo diario.

Construir un equipo fuerte y alegre es esencial para sostener el trabajo a largo plazo por la justicia ambiental. Crear espacios para el descanso, la diversión y la comunidad nos ayuda a mantenernos con los pies en la tierra, con energía y listos para seguir presentes en Chelsea y East Boston. 💚

❄️ This winter, the GreenRoots team took a well-deserved break for a staff outing at Lucky Strike in Assembly Row. Staff and ECO youth leaders came together for a few hours of bowling and arcade games, and took the time to connect outside of our day-to-day work.

Building a strong, joyful team is essential to sustaining the long-term work of environmental justice. Making space for rest, fun, and community helps us stay grounded, energized, and ready to continue showing up for Chelsea and East Boston. 💚

¡La justicia alimentaria en acción durante todo el año! 🥕✊🏼

Este invierno marcó un hito importante para el trabajo de Justicia Alimentaria de GreenRoots: nuestra primera distribución de verduras durante el invierno. Todos los productos compartidos con residentes locales en enero provinieron directamente de nuestra Freight Farm, demostrando el poder de los alimentos cultivados por la comunidad durante todo el año.

Estamos profundamente agradecidos con Mónica Barrera, integrante del equipo de Agricultura Urbana, quien apoyó este trabajo hasta finales de año, y con nuestro equipo de Justicia Alimentaria (Vladimir, Jojo, Oscar y Ceci) por su liderazgo y cuidado continuo.

Year-Round Food Justice in Action! 🥕✊🏼

This winter marked a meaningful milestone for GreenRoots’ Food Justice work: our first-ever winter vegetable distribution. All of the produce redistributed to local residents in January came directly from our Freight Farm, showing the power of year-round, community-grown food.

We’re deeply grateful to Mónica Barrera, our Urban Farm Crew Member, who supported this work through the end of the year, and to our Food Justice Team (Vladimir, Jojo, Oscar, and Ceci) for their continued leadership and care.

‼️ For everyone’s safety, ECO’s January Youth Night is canceled due to the snowstorm and the closure of Chelsea Public Schools. ‼️

We’re exploring whether we can reschedule and will share updates soon. If not, we hope you’ll join us for our ✊🏼 Youth Safety Workshop on February 26. Stay tuned for more info!
