"What can I say about Chelsea’s Hidden Acres Assisted Living Facility? Well, personally, I call it Chelsea’s hidden gem! You see, I have to start by saying it isn’t like a facility at all; it’s much more like a home.
My mom recently had to move into assisted living, and was I ever blessed to find this place. You see, my mother would never do well in some big, corporate-type facility. She needs a simpler, smaller, and serene place where life is more laid back, like the good old days. That’s exactly what we found here.
The “home,” as we call it, is just the right size for Mom. The residents aren’t really just residents at all; it’s more like a family. The staff as a whole are amazing, and Paula (the Administrator) goes above and beyond to make everyone feel that way, like family. The building is beautiful, the grounds are immaculate, and the “family” is well taken care of.
My mom’s room, like everyone else’s, is beautiful and clean as a pin. The funny thing is, you won’t find the family in their rooms very often. On a normal day, you’ll find them in the “conference room” (better known as the front porch), chatting with each other and taking in the gorgeous abundance of nature that surrounds them. This porch has more rocking chairs than a Cracker Barrel, and believe you me, they get put to good use!
It’s really not even possible for me to describe the natural beauty of Mother Nature that surrounds the entire place. I’ve seen deer, rabbits, squirrels, and even a green-headed mallard—just a few of the many types of wildlife around the home. Inside, the staff makes sure there are plenty of activities to keep the family busy (if, of course, you can get them off the porch!).
We haven’t yet experienced Christmas here, but I’m told it’s like a winter wonderland. If I had to sum up the care received and the atmosphere as a whole in one word, it would be PHENOMENAL.
To summarize: if you, like me, have a loved one who can’t completely take care of themselves anymore and just needs a hand and the love of family, or if you know someone in that situation, then you need to see this place. Give them a call, and they’ll gladly set up a tour for you.
One thing though, don’t tell too many people! We like a small to medium-sized family. But I can’t be selfish… there’s always room for a couple more. LOL! I really love this place."
