Crunch Time at Florence and Chafetz

To get ready for National Potato Chip Day tomorrow, our residents had a fun blind potato chip tasting challenge! Four different plain potato chips were sampled, and everyone carefully tasted, compared, and voted for their favorite. It was a very close race, but in the end Lay’s potato chips took the win!

Along the way, we also learned some fun facts about potatoes and America’s favorite snack. Residents discovered how potatoes are planted and harvested in Idaho, explored how potato chips are made in factories, and talked about the fun history behind this crunchy classic.

It was a delicious, educational, and very crunchy morning!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of welcoming pianist Fatima Hajizada for a beautiful afternoon recital.

Fatima treated residents to a wonderful musical journey through different eras, performing timeless works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and more. The music filled the room and created a truly special atmosphere.

As one resident shared, “It was magical.”

Thank you, Fatima, for sharing your incredible talent and bringing such joy to our community.

Last week, residents from the Leonard Florence Center for Living had the opportunity to take part in a truly special Outward Bound trip to Waterville Valley Resort.

Thanks to Waterville Valley’s outstanding adaptive ski program, two of our residents living with ALS were able to get back on the slopes. For both individuals—former ski racers—this experience was especially meaningful, bringing back cherished memories and the exhilaration of doing something they love.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at Waterville Valley for making this unforgettable day possible. Moments like these remind us why creating opportunities for joy, connection, and adventure is such an important part of what we do.

A Meaningful Purim Visit!

We were so happy to welcome the Elijah Society from Tobin Bridge Chabad for a truly special visit! Together with our residents, they helped pack children’s presents for our Purim celebration — a beautiful act of giving that brought generations together.

As they worked side by side, the group shared the story of Purim, sparking heartfelt conversations and cherished memories of past celebrations. It was incredibly heartwarming to hear everyone’s own Purim stories and traditions.

Thank you to the Elijah Society for bringing such warmth, spirit, and community to our day. Moments like these remind us how powerful connection and tradition can be.

Purim Fun at Leonard Florence Center for Living!

The Leonard Florence Center for Living couldn’t miss out on the joy of Purim! Families came together to celebrate with lively music, colorful balloon art, festive face painting, and of course — plenty of sweet treats.

The laughter, creativity, and togetherness made it a truly special day for residents and loved ones alike. Celebrations like these remind us how meaningful it is to share traditions across generations.

What a beautiful way to celebrate Purim!

A Purim Celebration to Remember!

We had an incredible Purim celebration filled with joy, tradition, and wonderful music! Rabbi Baron beautifully read the Megillah, bringing the Purim story to life and creating a meaningful moment for everyone in attendance.

The celebration continued with a lively musical performance by Jimmy, our Recreation Manager, alongside special guest saxophonist “The Poet.” The energy in the room was contagious — residents were on their feet, dancing, clapping, and fully embracing the festive spirit!

And of course, no Purim party would be complete without sweet treats. Delicious hamantashen and cupcakes were the perfect way to end the day on a high (and very sweet!) note.

It was truly a blast and a celebration we won’t soon forget!
