When Ian Fleming of Concord, Michigan graduated from high school, he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. His mom was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and his grandmother was a registered nurse, so they encouraged him to consider the healthcare field, Ian says. Today, thanks to a Scholarship from the UMRC-Porter Hills Foundation, Ian, who is a Lead CNA at Thome PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly), is pursuing his RN as well. We recently enjoyed a fun and festive day in Independent Living! The afternoon began with Christmas-themed team trivia, highlighted by a special visit from the Grinch as part of our Grinch-themed celebration. This was followed by a delicious “roast beast” supper in the dining room. We ended the day by watching The Grinch movie together in the theater. It was a joyful day filled with laughter, great food, and holiday cheer.
