We are aware of the recent activity by the City of Madras with our homeless friends today by the Madras Shelter and we recognize the hardship this creates for all those affected (the community and individuals). Our hearts remain with every individual facing any displacement and we are committed to treating each person with dignity and compassion. We will continue to stand in the gap for those needing basic needs every person deserves; safety, food and shelter. We will also continue to strengthen our partnership with the City of Madras to help our Madras Community thrive.

While we respect and support the city’s enforcement of current ordinances, our focus remains on serving those in need, period. The shelter property we manage lies within the boundaries of our Shelter's fence, but we of course care deeply for everyone in Jefferson County. Our shelter will continue to provide three meals a day and a safe, clean place to stay every night of the year for anyone who enters.

We want people in our beautiful shelter rather than outside! Everyone deserves a bed who wants one. If you know anyone impacted by this recent activity please encourage them to connect with us for care and support. Such a fun day hiking at Smith Rock with the crew. Beautiful views, lots of laughs, and just good energy all around. Definitely one of those days that fills your cup and makes you grateful for time spent together.

You see he**in, I see low self-esteem. You see co***ne, I see fear. You see alcohol, I see social anxiety. You see track marks, I see depression. You see a Ju**ie, I see someone's son. You see a pr******te, I someone's daughter caught in addiction. You see self-centeredness, I see the disease. You see a pill head, I see over prescribing of opiates. You see someone unwilling to change, I see someone hasn't connected with them yet. You see denial, I see someone hurting. You see someone nodding out, I see God showing us they need help. You see the end, I see the beginning. You see a dope fiend, I see a future success story. You see them, I see us. Alcoholism and Addiction can hit anyone regardless of family background, financial or social status or character. Many people have succumb to addiction having never used a drug illegally. Before you judge keep these things in mind because no one believes it will happen to them. Author unknown.
