There’s something so special about our residents eating together family style ❤️
helping one another, laughing over a shared lunch— it turns a simple meal into a moment of connection. It’s not just about food… it’s about community.
When they sit together at the table, share stories from “back in the day,”, it feels less like a facility and more like home. And that’s the goal.
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Creating space for dignity, independence, and genuine connection — even in the smallest routines — makes all the difference.
Family isn’t always blood. Sometimes it’s the people you share dinner with. 💛

🌟Employee Spotlight #1: Cecilia Ramirez!

What started as a summer job became her lifelong passion. 🙌🏻

Meet Ceci Ramirez, Lead Medication Aide at Chinook Place and Spotlight #1 of our 2025 Spotlight Crew!

“So let me start off by saying that working in long-term care has been such a rewarding job.

I have worked in this field since 2007, fresh out of high school. What was supposed to be a summer job has turned into my lifelong passion.

I took a small break and felt like something in my life was missing. It was caring for others. So I returned to caregiving.

I find joy in coming into work every day, making someone’s day by being kind, joyful, and sometimes even funny or silly to get a resident to laugh.

Giving my undivided attention, listening to anything they want to discuss, and helping in any way I can is what it is all about for me.

This line of work has taught me so much in life. I use my skills not only at work, but in everyday life. Connecting with families is also such a blessing.

I find such pride in my role at Chinook Place. I have made such great relationships here and look forward to coming into work every day.

As soon as I walk into the facility, the outside world is left behind and I am home.”

Today we are proud to highlight Tia Cree, Lead Medication Aide at Chinook Place!

Tia shared the heart behind why she chose to work in long-term care, and we think it's beautiful:

“I chose to go into long-term care because I’ve always felt a deep calling to care for my elders, especially those who may not always have a strong voice of their own. I truly enjoy building connections with the residents I care for. In long-term care, you don’t just care for someone’s physical needs, you become part of their daily lives, their routines, and even their families.

I love the chance to truly get to know each resident, listen to their stories, and bring comfort, dignity, and joy into their days. It’s not always easy, but it’s meaningful work, and I feel grateful to be able to give back in such a personal and lasting way.

Knowing I can make someone feel valued and supported each day is what makes this work so rewarding to me.”
